The most popular glitches in games on the Dendy console (6 photos)
Playing games on 8-bit Dendy consoles (namely Dendy, not NES), gamers of the 90s periodically encountered glitches in certain games. And it’s not at all the game itself, but usually due to improper porting. And today I invite you to remember a few of these games.
Golden Ax 3
In fact, there was no "Golden Ax" game on the NES, and certainly not a third part of this cult series of games. But we came across this game on the Dendy console. However, as I found out later, this game is actually called "Astyanax".
Right at the first level of this game, one very “wonderful” glitch awaited us. At one point, the game suddenly began to be filled with symbols and sprites, which was clearly not the intent of the game.
Because of this, further progression of the game was very difficult. True, many still broke through this abundance of glitches and continued the game. But in the future, gamers were faced with more and more new portions of various glitches.
Super Rescue (Robocop 3)
Naturally, this game has nothing in common with the game "Robocop 3". It’s just that “gentlemen pirates” called the famous game “Tokkyuu Shirei Solbrain” exactly that way. True, they changed not only the name, but also removed the level selection.
And everything would be fine, but it was in this pirated version that players encountered a glitch, which made further progress in the game impossible.
After completing level F, we have to fight the boss on the elevator. And it would seem that this is quite an ordinary boss, which is quite possible to defeat. But you shouldn’t rejoice after defeating a boss, because after that you will have to fight the same boss again. As a result, after each victory over this boss, we will be forced to fight him again and again, and so on ad infinitum.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles held a special place in the hearts of 90s kids. These include films, comics, toys, stickers, the cult animated series, and of course games on the Dendy console.
Naturally, many gamers of the 90s played the third part of this cult series of games. But, unfortunately, many gamers got exactly the buggy version of this game. And those gamers who were able to reach Shredder experienced this glitch for themselves.
As you know, when Shredder begins to blink, it meant that he was already dying, and only a couple of blows needed to be dealt to him. It was only after delivering these couple of blows that Shredder stopped blinking and fought us with renewed vigor.
After beating him a little more, he would start blinking again, but then stop doing so again. And no matter how much we tried to hit the enemy, he never wanted to die. Many immediately began to look for a catch and try to kill him in some special way, but it was all in vain.
And only after a while we found out what was the matter. As it turned out, the Konami company sewed a special security code into the game that made the game more difficult when removing copyrights from the title screen. The pirates didn’t know this (or maybe they didn’t care), so they flooded the market with a game with copyrights removed, which is why ordinary enemies became stronger, and Shredder could not be killed at all.
Felix the cat
To be fair, there were no glitches in the game about Felix the cat. But many people came across this game in a dark version. That is, the screen was much darker than it actually should have been. Yes, you get used to it, but I still wanted to play in more comfortable conditions.
Shadow warrior
Surely many of you have played the cult game "Ninja Gaiden". This is a great game where we take on the role of some ninja, fight enemies, pick up new weapons and power-ups, etc.
But the Europeans released this game under the name "Shadow warrior", since the word "ninja" was banned. But not only the name of this version of the game differed from the original. The fact is that flashlights with weapons and other power-ups were removed from the game, which is why we had to play through the entire game exclusively with the starting sword.
Yes, of course, it was possible to meet several flashlights during the game, but it was impossible to get to one of them, because it was requested somewhere upstairs, and when taking another flashlight, the game simply froze.
And of course, don’t forget to write in the comments what glitches you’ve encountered in games on the Dendy console.
