Well, don’t forget that the seeds have a special therapeutic effect: sit down in the evening, put a bowl of pot-bellied, oily, slightly salted “chernushki”, turn on your favorite movie and, as they said in the famous video, “spit the whole house.” Jokes are jokes, and the evening becomes cozy.

Most people now buy ready-made seeds, although they often cannot be compared with homemade ones. Some people like it cooked more intensely, some less, some without salt at all, while others want an excellent salty snack. So what's the best way to cook sunflower seeds?

How to fry seeds in a frying pan



In the store, it is best to choose medium-sized, “puffed” ones; after frying, they will be sweet and buttery.

Be sure to rinse the purchased seeds under running water, stirring constantly, to wash away the coloring pigment and unnecessary debris. Then place it in a heated frying pan, preferably cast iron. Depending on the taste, the frying pan can be greased with sunflower (or olive) oil, but more often they do not do this.

First you need to turn on the gas to full, and after they heat up, reduce the gas to medium. The seeds cook from 5 to 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the pan and the size of the grains.

It is very important to stir them during frying, preferably with a wooden spoon.

How to determine readiness:

When the kernels become saturated, it means they are ready. Well, just try it.





But in fact, there are a huge number of ways to fry seeds and it all depends on taste preferences. There is also this unusual recipe.

Here, too, you first need to rinse, then pour into a deep frying pan and add water, always with two tablespoons of salt. Boil for about a minute to ensure the grains are saturated with salt.

After which the water is drained and the seeds are further fried with salt (add another tablespoon). It is important to stir the seeds constantly so that they do not burn. If a white coating appears on the pan, this is normal, the salt is just escaping.

The fire decreases as the seeds dry. It is better to taste the seeds while frying, and when they become dry enough, add olive oil so that it begins to be absorbed. Remove the frying pan a couple of minutes before it is fully cooked. Let cool on a flat plate, which is very important, because they should reach the temperature from their heat and become denser with a crispy skin.

Sunflower seeds in the microwave



Not everyone has gas stoves at home, and thanks to progress, seeds can now be cooked in the microwave. And quite simple.

As always, rinse with water first. Then sprinkle a little sunflower oil and add salt as desired. Then pour the seeds evenly into a special bowl (layer 2-4 cm thick). Set the power to maximum for one and a half to two minutes.

When the signal sounds, take out, mix and smooth the half-fried seeds, and then put them in the microwave again at medium power for one minute. Repeat the cycle at least twice, removing and stirring. You can only know if it is ready by trying. Typically, the cooking process consists of 2-4 frying cycles, depending on the power of the microwave.

Sunflower seeds in the oven



You can do it on a baking sheet or in a frying pan. Roasted sunflower seeds from the oven have a different taste from those cooked on the stove because they are dried first and then fried.

After washing, place the grains on a baking sheet in an even layer and place in the oven, preheating it to 200 degrees. Don't forget to stir well.
