There are paintings that compress time. The film seems to last two hours, but it seems that only thirty minutes have passed. That's how interesting it is to watch the plot.

Seven Psychopaths (2012)

A film by Martin McDonagh, the famous Irish playwright, screenwriter and director who wrote and directed such hits as "Lie Down in Bruges" and "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri." Starring the best actors of world cinema: Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell, Christopher Walken, Woody Harrelson, Tom Waits.

Best Offer (2012)

The cunning and calculating auctioneer Oldman (Geoffrey Rush) has amassed a huge underground collection of paintings through machinations. One day he receives an offer to evaluate antiques inherited by a young mysterious woman, Claire (Sylvia Hoeks). She suffers from a fear of open spaces, does not leave her room and refuses numerous requests to meet with Oldman. Intrigued by her strange behavior, a middle-aged man, spending day after day among priceless things, gradually falls in love with the client. The game of invisibility will end sooner or later, but a surprise awaits the viewer in the end. Film by Giuseppe Tornatore ("Malena", "The Legend of the Pianist").

Now You See Me (2013)

A troupe of magicians led by the charismatic Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg) performs several high-tech shows. First, right in front of astonished spectators, they rob a Parisian bank while in Las Vegas, then expose a financial swindler, directing his millions to the bank accounts of the spectators. The authorities are stunned by their carefully planned operations, but FBI agent Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo) is determined to make the illusionists pay for their crimes and stop them. A sequel was released in 2016, in which magicians confront Daniel Radcliffe's character.

Prestige (2006)

A film adaptation of Christopher Priest's fantasy drama, the plot of which was greatly modified by Christopher Nolan and his brother Jonathan. The film follows the rivalry between two magicians, Borden (Christian Bale) and Angier (Hugh Jackman), who use brutal methods of competition after they fall out due to an accident that causes the death of Angier's wife. To surprise the audience with a new trick that no one has ever seen and is unlikely to be repeated by anyone, magicians are ready to do anything. And they both impress each other (and the viewer) with how much they are willing to sacrifice to become the best at their craft. David Bowie stars in the film as Nikola Tesla.

Exam (2009)

Eight candidates have reached the final test in the fight for a high position in a prestigious company. All they have to do is pass the exam, which for many of them will literally be the last in their lives.

Oldboy (2003)

A bright representative of South Korean cinema. The film by Park Chan-wook (“Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance,” “The Maid”) tells the story of a man who spent 15 years in a private prison without ever knowing why he was captured and locked behind bars. All these years, the hero was thinking about revenge and preparing himself to escape and reprisal against those who were responsible for his troubles. But when the hero is released, he discovers that many years of imprisonment were only the first stage of the sophisticated abuse that he will have to endure. An American remake starring Josh Brolin was released in 2013.

Nothing Good at the El Royale Hotel (2018)

In the once popular and always filled to capacity hotel, and now just a remote place on the border of two states called "El Royale", as many as four guests arrive at the same time: a priest, a salesman of household goods, a dark-skinned lady and a hippie girl. The hotel's only employee is concierge Miles. Having received the keys, guests go to their rooms. All of them did not come there by chance, and not all of them will survive until the morning.

The film has a brilliant cast: Jon Hamm (TV series "Mad Men"), Chris Hemsworth ("Thor"), Dakota Johnson ("50 Shades of Grey"), Jeff Bridges ("The Big Lebowski"). By the way, after this film, Jeff Bridges left films for a while to recover from cancer. It is known that Bridges is already on the mend and plans to return to action in the near future.

Night Games (2018)

A detective comedy about a married couple whose passion for board games has gone too far. Starring Jason Bateman (Horrible Bosses) and Rachel McAdams (The Notebook).

Gone Girl (2014)

On their fifth wedding anniversary, Nick's (Ben Affleck) wife Amy Dunne (Rosamund Pike) disappears. A pair of detectives are investigating the girl's disappearance, and all the evidence they find turns against her husband Nick. Director David Fincher said in an interview that he cast Affleck in the lead role because of his ridiculous smile in one of the photos. This is exactly how, according to the director, the husband of the disappeared woman should have smiled at the television cameras.

Primal Fear (1996)

This film marked the brilliant acting debut of Edward Norton, which earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He appeared as a young man who suffers from a split personality and is accused of murdering a respected bishop. The key figure of the thriller is the hero of Richard Gere, a famous lawyer who plans to win the case at any cost. The ending is incredible.
