Back in 2005, we were able to see a good action comedy - "Mr. and Mrs. Smith", which not only grossed over $400 million worldwide. but also gave him one of the most beautiful couples in Hollywood for 13 years: Bradd Pitt-Angelina Jolie.

1. Brad Pitt and Nicole Kidman were first cast for the role of the Smith couple. It soon turned out that Kidman’s schedule was not working out and she left the project, followed by Pitt. Director Doug Liman set out to find a new couple and seriously considered Will Smith and Catherine Zeta-Jones, Johnny Depp and Cate Blanchett. However, when Jolie appeared on the horizon, Pitt immediately returned and voila!

2. Voila for the film and for both actors: on the set of the film they began a romantic relationship, then a family, children and all that for a whole 10 years.

3. Vince Vaughn also suffered from point 2 - he began dating Pitt’s ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston. But not for long, about a year.

4. Pitt interrupted filming for three months to participate in “Ocean’s 12.”

5. The Smiths was Simon Kinberg's MFA thesis at Columbia University.

6. And here he is in person.

7. Eddie’s phrase “I won’t get out of bed for less than half a million” is a subtle trolling of Linda Evangelista’s iconic phrase “I won’t get out of bed for less than $10 thousand a day.” The trolling model believed and even publicly commented that everything new is well forgotten old, there is simply inflation and gender inequality.

8. Wow, what a T-shirt Benjamin Dance is wearing!

9. Notice how John takes aim: first he closed his eye, then opened it. Whoever the consultant is – credit!

10. In 1996, CBS aired a series of the same name starring Scott Bakula and Maria Bello. "Luke, I am your father!".

11. In the desert, Jane Smith uses a Vectronix surveillance device from the Swiss company Safran.

12. The film arrived in theaters under the code name "The Joneses."

13. Many people note that “The Smiths” is very reminiscent of “True Lies” starring Schwarzenegger and Lee Curtis. Particularly reminiscent of the scene in the tango restaurant. What do you think?

14. Top: A helicopter flies over Bogota in The Smiths. Below is the same helicopter, but from the film “A Clear and Present Danger” (1994). Apparently the entire budget went to Pitt and Jolie (see paragraph 21). Here it was enough to just finish drawing the crew.

14.1. This is not Bogota or Colombia at all. This is Mexico.

15. At the address of the I-TEMP company (New York, 570 Lexington Avenue) there is a 50-story General Electric Building. Actually, this is where the hacking happens.

16. The diner where the Smiths meet Eddie was also featured in the films Old School (2002, also starring Vince Vaughn) and Gone in 60 Seconds (2000, starring Angelina Jolie).

17. The bar where Smith kills Lucky is called Droch Chroí, which means “Bad Heart” in Irish.

18. When the Smiths meet at home after their first case (Lucky and the arms dealer), they have what appears to be a background conversation that was actually just mistranslated. If it can be translated at all while maintaining its subtle meaning. I'll leave the original:

John: I went to the sport bar put some money on the game

Jane: How did you do?

John: I got Lucky.

And he never lied!

19. For some reason, Vince Vaughn does not appear in the “first batch” of the closing credits, where the names of the main actors are indicated. Agree, his character will be more important and generally more interesting than, for example, Jade (Jennifer Morrison) or Martin Coleman (Chris Weitz).

20. The film has a very cute alternative ending:

21. Pitt and Jolie's fees amounted to $20 million each. This is about 40% of the film's total budget.

22. Budget - $110 million, box office - $487 million. This is the second highest-grossing film starring Brad Pitt: in first place is World War Z (2013), which earned $540.5 million.
