The thymus is another unusual organ that only develops in humans until the onset of puberty. The weight of the gland by that time reaches 40 g, and its length is 15 cm. Then it atrophies and becomes part of the surrounding adipose tissue.

The thymus or thymus gland is located exactly behind the sternum, in the center of the chest. The main role of the “gland of youth” is the generation of lymphocytes. But it also has other functions. It is assumed, but not yet proven, that the thymus gland produces hormones responsible for skin restoration, a feeling of joy, and is associated with the aging process.

This is a tiny cluster of neurons – literally a couple of millimeters in size. Located on the inferior cerebellar peduncle of the brain. This site was discovered quite recently, literally three years ago. As in the case of the chin, this is the prerogative of humans alone: ​​other mammals do not have it.

So far, there is only a hypothesis that the endoretiform nucleus is responsible for posture, balance and is used for the analysis of motor and sensory motor skills. No confirmation or refutation of this fact has yet been found.
