Prices for food in stores make you grab your head, because they only continue to rise. If you didn’t want to throw something you bought a couple of days ago into the trash, now you don’t want to throw it away even more so. Is there any way to extend the life of some products to avoid this?





Of course, if you follow the rules for storing them. At least some of them.

And let's start with what, in theory, should be stored for a long time. We are talking about honey, which after some time thickens and becomes sugary. Of course, this doesn’t make the product any less healthy, but its taste definitely changes.

To avoid this, you need to put a couple of lemon slices on the hardening area. At least in the place where they lie, the honey will remain liquid.



Let's move on to vegetables. Quite a lot of people are convinced that tomatoes should not be put in the refrigerator. However, there are those who believe that the aroma and taste of fruits can be preserved at low temperatures. True, for this they need to be placed with the stalk down. So they will lose only 2% of weight versus 7%.

In any case, this is indicated by the results of the research.





But if you plan to make a salad out of them or simply eat them as slices, it is better to store cucumbers in slices in a container with cold water. Without exposure to air they will remain crispy.



On the contrary, it is better for zucchini not to come into contact with water. At least if you don’t plan to use them in the near future. Before putting them in the refrigerator, you need to wipe them thoroughly, since even the minimum moisture content contributes to their rapid withering.



Of course, legumes cannot dry out, but no one is safe from the appearance of insects in them. However, this can be avoided by placing an unpeeled clove of garlic in the jar.



To allow mushrooms to breathe in the refrigerator, it is better to place them in a paper bag. However, this is not enough to prevent them from drying out. To avoid the latter, you should put a damp paper towel on them.



It is no secret that the shelf life of bananas is too short, but it is quite difficult to eat the entire purchased branch at once. Of course, they can be eaten overripe, but it’s still better when they retain their original appearance. The latter can be achieved in two ways.



The first is to wrap the stems with foil or napkins or paper towels moistened with water. The essence of the second, according to the Japanese, is to hang bananas, since they are sensitive to pressure when lying on a surface.

When buying fresh cookies, no one wants to eat stale crackers two or three days later. To avoid this, you need to pour rice into the bottom of the storage jar, then cover it with parchment paper with holes made in it, and place the baked goods on top. Thanks to this simple step, all the excess moisture will go into the rice, preserving the taste of the cookies.



But to prevent the cake from drying out, you need to put a couple of apple slices in the box with it.



Well, let's finish with cheese, which dries quite quickly when exposed to air. To prevent this from happening, you should place it in an airtight container along with several sugar cubes so that all excess liquid goes into them. True, it is worth making sure that they do not soften and change them in time.
