We've all woken up at least once a few minutes before the alarm clock rings. Some were happy about their internal clock, while others, on the contrary, were upset that the sweetest five minutes of sleep were canceled today.





In the human body, circadian rhythms regulate sleep and wakefulness. They are responsible for the sense of time, blood pressure, body temperature and the sense of time, which determines whether a person wants to sleep or, on the contrary, engage in some kind of activity.



These same circadian rhythms are influenced by a variety of factors, including external ones. When the sun sets, the hypothalamus says: “Time to sleep!” and sends the desired signal to the brain. The brain obediently supplies a dose of melatonin, which provokes drowsiness.





In general, circadian rhythms are not easy. “Larks” and “owls” are not the same - they have different sleep and wakefulness patterns. It is important to simply sleep enough hours in a day.

But the biological clock works more accurately if you try to maintain a daily routine. The body can get used to the amount of sleep a person needs and begins to “wake up” itself in the morning at the right time.



Sleep cycles in particular are regulated by a certain protein - its level both rises and falls during the day. At night, the level drops, blood pressure decreases, and the pulse becomes slower. And if a person wakes up every morning at approximately the same time, then the body begins to increase both body temperature and blood pressure. Release hormones such as cortisol about an hour before waking up to help the body cope with stress and make waking up easier.



That is, if a person wakes up shortly before the alarm clock, this means that the body has learned the “rules” so well that it itself wakes up at the right time. But if that same treacherous voice inside starts talking about “five more minutes,” you shouldn’t give in to it. The body has done a lot of work making a cocktail of hormones that help you wake up and fall asleep, and morning indulgences will negate this work.
