It sounds harsh, but such a plant exists. Moreover, not all plants from the Omezhnik genus are dangerous. Some types are even used for making seasonings. But we will look specifically at the saffron saffron - and why people “smile” before death.

Let's start with where this wonderful monster lives. The saffron friend has occupied a fairly large habitat and is found in the temperate climates of Europe and Asia. He even captured a little bit of Africa - in its tropical areas. In addition to warmth, the mutt loves water and can be found on the banks of slow rivers, near lakes and in swamps.



Looks at the water and doesn't touch anyone

Living near water has made the plant's rhizomes short but gnarled to hold firmly to the soil. Only the roots do not have time to grow strongly - the plant lives for a maximum of two years. But during this short period, the bud grows 1-1.5 meters high and looks similar to hogweed.





How a negotiator grows

The flowers are small, cute, like white balls on a stem. And the plant would not have had a bad reputation if not for the inventive inhabitants of the island of Sardinia. These comrades came up with the idea of ​​​​making a decoction of omega, and for a very terrible purpose - to send old people and disabled people to another world. A person who was unable to take care of himself was a burden to the community and voluntarily (forcibly) took poison, after which he suffered not only a wide range of different pain and mental sensations, but also beatings from his fellow tribesmen, who perceived the whole ritual as a kind of send-off. All this was accompanied by a radiant smile, which appeared not because of good and kind feelings towards the tormentors, but because of a severe spasm of the facial muscles surrounding the mouth.
