The Cordilleran stick insect is a creature that crawled out of somewhere from the underworld. 
Externally, these monsters cannot be confused with anyone else: gigantic sizes - up to 7 centimeters. Coal black carcass. Against the background of pitchless darkness, only yellow eyes, like headlights, a red mouth, as if stained with blood, and miniature scarlet wings stand out. In a word - a typical lover of the dark.

The arthropods were found quite recently - in 2004. How did such a grotesque guy go unnoticed for so long? The fact is that insects are registered in the impenetrable Peruvian mountain forests of the Cordillera Del Condor Nature Reserve. And even there they live on an area of only 5 hectares. Just so you understand, this is the area of the world population of the entire species. All the wild Cordilleran stick insects on the planet live in an area the size of 7 football fields! 
This is for whom “in cramped conditions but not offended” are not empty words!
In addition to the infernal suit, the stick insect captured a couple of milliliters of acid from the seething cauldron of sinners from the lower world. The insect will sprinkle it on anyone who covets its demonic carcass. The effect of acid is not acidic: if you get it in the eye, it will burn like pepper spray. 
Now I understand what the expression “burning eyes” means...
Despite its terrifying appearance and weapons in the form of acid pistols, in life the Cordilleran stick insect is a peaceful guy. It crawls along the crown of the local tree, the shinus, eats its foliage and does not commit any murders. 
By the way, the insect cannot fly on its tiny wings. They serve as a deterrent to predators.
And these insects are damn good at the art of love! The Cordilleran stick insect, having found a mate, spends several weeks with her! All this time, the lovers passionately love each other, not separating for a minute. And even when the process of friendship between organisms ends, the female and male will wander around as a couple.

After some time, the females lay eggs, whose strength any man would envy. The durable “shell” coating protects babies from shock, frost and dryness. Within a month, little devils will hatch from them.

The area of 7 football fields is an extremely sparse territory even by insect standards. At some point, the stick insect was ready to go to its underground world forever. But now the life and health of the insect is not in danger. Bukah Goths are carefully guarded. Attempts to catch them in the wild are punishable by law. Local residents also learned to breed them in captivity. Very soon these monsters became the object of attention of many breeders around the world.

The love and adoration of people made the population more than stable. Oddly enough, Cordilleran stick insects are very unpretentious when it comes to keeping them. Moderate temperature (15 to 25 degrees) and food is all they need. Moreover, there are no problems with feeding - suddenly, they happily eat our native privet and honeysuckle. So be fruitful, infernal beings, and multiply! For the joy of people and for the benefit of preserving the species!
