The real prototype of the ominous Silent Hill was a small town called Centralia. Once upon a time it was an ordinary and quite prosperous city engaged in mining. However, a fire in the network of mine tunnels completely turned the peaceful life of the townspeople upside down. A fire broke out underground, which led to serious faults and the release of toxic clouds of smoke. Many residents left their home. However, there were those who refused to leave, despite the danger.
Due to the fire, the entire city was covered in thick smoke and ash. It was this feature that inspired the Silent Hill developers to create an amazing and creepy gaming location.
