The quality of public spaces is very important for assessing the convenience of the urban environment. They should be arranged in such a way as not to create difficulties for people! Unfortunately, sometimes urban planners and interior designers forget about this.
They force us to sit on uncomfortable benches, use narrow toilet stalls, admire controversial works of art, etc. Here are some examples of such abuse.
1. Chairs in the waiting room of a laser vision correction clinic. Didn't you notice them? Well, it's time to have surgery.
2. "I'm sure you're all wondering why I've brought you here today."
3. “I didn’t immediately realize that the sun was depicted here...”
4. No words needed here
5. This fountain looks like the perfect place to sit and relax. And then it's too late
6. As if public restrooms weren't already a huge nuisance.
7. Gas station in Nebraska. The general color scheme of the interior is red. They tried to make it "beautiful"
8. “I haven’t heard of broken legs yet, but in general it’s quite possible.”
9. A flat carpet in a hotel in Cologne, Germany, imitating a curved surface. Cool design, but is it convenient for people?
10. "The place in our school where all the corridors intersect"
11. Two windows in my office are constantly fighting for the honor of being the only one open.
12. "The most uncomfortable wall clock I've ever seen"
13. Escalator "False Hope"
14. It's not rust. This is "design"
15. Painting in the interior of a very fashionable restaurant
16. Benches with “protection against homeless people.” And actually inconvenient for everyone
17. Magnificent staircase leading directly into the wall. Very vital
18. The door to the toilet with another door in it that does not lock in any way
19. Restaurant in London. The waiters are delighted
20. “I went into the toilet in the supermarket and was shocked by what I saw. I looked closely and it wasn’t dirt. It was a special finish.”
21. These toilet stalls have translucent doors.
22. A staircase in a movie theater that you have to go down very carefully
23. Toilet stalls with mirrored ceilings? Brilliant!
24. Not exactly the pattern you'd want in your bathroom.
25. Iron alligator on the floor in the lobby of the medical center. In case you had no injuries before coming
26. Sometimes someone starts climbing up the side of the stairs
27. Artistic panel in the hotel restaurant
28. “I’m sure this mirror looked really cool during the design stage.”
29. Rugged restaurant design
30. “I’m not sure they thought this through very well.”
