Taking a vacation can help you fight dementia. How is this possible? (5 photos)
Do you think traveling is pointless, and it’s better to spend time at the dacha with the sirloin side up? And will your crazy elderly relative be left alone if you don’t take care of the garden in the village?
No matter how it is. It turns out that if there is still a “crazy” relative or relative, you should not lock the sick person within the walls. It is necessary, in order to slow down the progressing disease... to go on a trip.
At least, this is the conclusion that researchers from Australia and China came to. They analyzed previously published scientific papers on dementia and learned that tourism appears to have a therapeutic effect on patients with so-called dementia.
The fact is that, according to scientists, the impressions that a person receives from traveling have a beneficial effect on the functioning of the brain. This results in cognitive and sensory stimulation. Moreover, it turned out that a person adapts to any new environment, and this has an extremely positive effect on patients with dementia - their brain works in an enhanced mode.
In addition, it turns out that thanks to active movement, the nerves and psyche of even a healthy person, and not just a sick one, also calm down. So if you suddenly decide to relax in Turkey, take a couple of excursions. There you will rest your soul.
Eating food together is also important, which most often happens with tourists. Thanks to this, eating behavior (or, more simply, a person’s consent to eat in moderation, and not less or more than required) is stabilized.
In addition, the authors of the study propose to rethink the role of travel in medical practice, and at the same time treat it as therapy.
So if you do go on vacation in the summer, consider it at the same time as prevention against dementia.
