In the last part, the heroines of a number of films were not mentioned, but they deserve to be told about them. They really are scary.
They are fanatical, they go to the end and their moral principles are erased very quickly. They frighten with their peremptory nature and their determination.
"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" (and subsequent parts)
Of course Dolores Umbridge. Sweet to the point of nausea, all in pink, with a “girlish” giggle that makes you feel instantly uncomfortable. She is a vivid example of that same psychopath who has seized power, and, if you forget that Potter is, in general, a children's movie, then the methods of education and the image of Umbridge frighten adults too. Reviews of the film often call her one of the worst women in cinema, and for this brilliant portrayal we thank actress Imelda Staunton.
"Mist"
Mrs Carmody. A fanatical believer in God, a resident of a town that has been hit by an invasion of creepy creatures. The townspeople, locked in a grocery store, try not to escalate the situation until the fanatic Carmody begins to shout louder and louder about “punishment of the Lord” and read passages from the Bible. In less than 24 hours, she turns from a universal laughing stock into something like a messiah, subjugating the frightened and aggressive crowd. She manipulates her, dictates who should be sacrificed next, and turns into a real monster. Marcia Gay Harden very accurately reproduced this image and many viewers said that they wanted to strangle her.
"In the arms of lies"
Greta Hideg, played by Isabelle Huppert, is a woman distraught over the death of her daughter who lures young girls to her. Greta's next victim is Frances, who is grieving the death of her own mother, so it is not surprising that she becomes close to an older woman.
Greta is an outwardly refined and sophisticated lady who plays "mother and daughter" with her victims until the victims try to escape...
"Locked Up" and "Pretend"
The first is a film, and the second is a series. "Locked Down" is simply based on the story of Didi and Gypsy, and "Pretend" is based on them.
In the film, Sarah Paulson played an abnormal mother treating her daughter for non-existent diseases. She is cold, calm and absolutely crazy. Her child sincerely believes that he is terminally ill, until the truth gradually comes out.
Didi was played by Patricia Arquette in the series, and she truly gives you chills. She surrounds her daughter with “care”, does not allow her to communicate with anyone, isolates her and imposes more and more new diseases, aggressively defending her opinion with doctors.
Both heroines are undoubtedly mentally ill. Most likely this is Munchausen syndrome in the third person.
"American Crime"
It’s worth saying right away that the film was based on police reports and witness testimony. Also based on this story, the film “The Girl Opposite” was made, but, to be honest, Catherine Keener, who played the sadistic Gertrude Banichevsky, and in general the entire film “American Crime” was made much more accurate and scary.
The story of Sylvia Likens shocked America in the 60s, and Gertrude Banichevsky is a terrible monster and it’s even impossible to imagine that a woman, and even a mother, could do such a thing. Keener played in such a way that her character gives you a shiver even at that moment when he is just sitting in the frame.
