If a film is good, it has an impact on the viewer. Or even in general, they change their attitude towards something. Inspiration, motivation, change of thinking and priorities.
Girls are no longer embarrassed to go to work in those professions that were considered only “male”; their behavior in relation to certain things or principles changes. What films changed the world?
"Secret materials"
Well, it’s clear: UFO witnesses began to multiply like mushrooms. All sorts of “eyewitness” stories of encounters with aliens and other paranormal phenomena began to appear frequently in the press. People began to study everything inexplicable and mysterious. Communities of ufologists have formed on the Internet, attracting thousands of people.
Scientists criticized The X-Files for promoting the supernatural, but, as it turned out, the series was much more successful in promoting science. Scully inspired many women to go into science. The results of sociological surveys show that the character of Scully has increased the role of science in the eyes of women around the world. This phenomenon was called the "Scully effect."
"Bambi"
Everyone remembers this incredibly sad story of a fawn whose mother was killed by hunters, but he was saved simply by a miracle. The cartoon was released in 1942 and had a tremendous influence on many hunters who watched Bambi with their children. They gave up hunting forever. It was Bambi who became the unspoken symbol of the fight against trophy and senseless hunting.
"Silence of the Lambs"
The FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) took an active part in the filming of the film. One of the most famous agent training bases in Quantico took in Jodie Foster to take their course. The FBI hoped that the film would help fill their ranks with women, which, in fact, happened. Clarice Starling became an inspiration for many girls and they wanted to become FBI agents.
"Bernie"
This film is based on real events. The man who worked as an undertaker was a rather nice guy, whom all the neighbors knew as a good man, who met an older woman. They got married and the old woman began to harass the man every day, torturing him and mocking him. It all led to him accidentally killing her. In the film, he is sent to prison, despite the fact that the public stood up for the unwitting killer.
A certain lawyer, after the release of the film, showed interest in the real story, revealing a number of facts that contributed to the release of the real Bernie. The film's director actively assisted in the trial.
"Black Panther"
After the film was released, people began to adopt black cats from shelters en masse. So much so that there are practically none left there, and yet they were almost never taken away before due to a number of superstitions associated with black cats.
"Malibu safeguards"
At first, of course, sales of one-piece red swimsuits increased significantly. And then people began to become interested in the work of rescuers, realizing how significant and important it is. Thousands of young people began to sign up for beach lifeguard training courses. By the way, meeting all the requirements is quite difficult and not everyone can complete the training.
"Jaws"
Attitudes towards recreation and safety measures on the beach have changed. After the film was released, journalists, of course, began to talk about terrible cases of shark attacks. Swimming areas on beaches began to be fenced off and new rules were introduced for the immediate evacuation of vacationers from the water.
By the way, the vast majority of accidents on the water are associated with violation of safety rules and inability to swim. Sharks are not frequent visitors to coastal areas, and divers can be very frightened by them.
"Dr. House"
Of course, the series has a lot of conventions and shortcomings. But many doctors love it, and the episodes are based on real hospital cases. There is a well-known real case where a patient could not be diagnosed for a year. The doctor treating this patient saw an episode of House that described similar symptoms and ran a series of tests that no one would have thought of. Yes, the patient was poisoned due to a metal implant in his leg.
"Philadelphia"
It is clear that in the late 80s, AIDS was a scary and unknown beast, about which very little was known. When it began to spread across the United States, it caused aggression towards those affected. They began to be ignored, kicked out of work, shunned. Tom Hanks, who played in this film, made a tremendous contribution to the destigmatization of HIV and AIDS with his role.
The picture caused an information explosion. It turns out that the terrible AIDS is not transmitted through glasses and handshakes. Those who are sick do not differ in appearance from healthy people; they need support and sympathy. The film helped to significantly reduce problems such as silence and discrimination, and loyalty to the sick increased significantly.
"007: Spectrum"
In the film, the parade as part of the festival turned out to be so enchanting that the Mexican capital had to give in and hold it annually. Millions of tourists, following in the footsteps of agent 007, wanted to take part in the beautiful procession in Mexico City in honor of the Day of the Dead.
"Holocaust"
The film was released in 1978. By that time, German society was, in principle, ready to talk about the Holocaust and what happened in the concentration camps. There had already been trials of the guards, an increasing number of people were involved in the discussion, but still, so far it was only a circle of caring and interested people.
After the film was released, the German Language Society declared the word “Holocaust” the word of the year. It was from this moment that the study of the Holocaust became compulsory in schools. Already in 1979, the German parliament abolished any statute of limitations for prosecutions for genocide and the Holocaust.
