Some actors spent days, months, and even years asking filmmakers to kill off their characters. This happens for various reasons - and sometimes directors agree to such steps, and sometimes not. Let's look at several cases from the history of cinema when actors really wanted their characters to die. Warning: some spoilers. 
1. Ahead of the fourth Fast and Furious movie, Paul Walker wanted his character killed off. 
Here's what the late Walker told director Justin Lin:
"I wanted to leave. I thought I would leave after the second or third movie, but this time Vin (Diesel) called and said, 'Let's do another one.' At some point I told Justin (Lin) that I wanted for my character to die. He said that wouldn't happen," Walker said in an interview.
2. Jeremy Renner was unhappy with the way his character Hawkeye was portrayed in The Avengers and asked to be killed off 
The actor even pretended that his character was having a heart attack to suggest to the producers that he should be killed off.
3. Alec Guinness begged George Lucas to remove him from Star Wars and openly criticized his character's dialogue 
“I could no longer continue to say these stupid lines. I was fed up with this nonsense,” the actor said in an interview.
4. After the release of the second Star Wars film, Harrison Ford also felt that his character Han Solo should be killed off. 
"I thought that Solo had to sacrifice himself for the sake of two other characters - Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia. He had no mother, father, he had no future, and besides, no important roles in the plot," the actor said.
5. Johnny Depp wanted his character from Jump Street (1987) to be killed off. 
Johnny Depp compared his filming in the series in his last years to a “creative prison.” According to rumors, the actor did everything he could to get fired - including trashing his trailer. He later agreed to star in 21 Jump Street again on the condition that his character be killed off.
6. Sean Connery once got tired of playing James Bond and wanted him dead 
Once he even said:
"I always hated that damn James Bond - and I would like to kill him."
7. Daniel Craig also wanted to kill Bond after the first film 
According to the actor, he sincerely believed that he would star in one Bond film, and then it would all be over. But when he realized that the work turned out to be grandiose, he knew that he would have to star in several more parts. Having learned that there would be four parts, he asked producer Barbara Broccoli to kill the character. This did happen in the film “No Time to Die” (2021).
8. Sophie Turner said she wanted her character Sansa to die in Game of Thrones after taking revenge. 
The actress wanted Sansa to avenge her family's death and then die "grandly."
9. Another Game of Thrones actor, Julian Glover, also asked for his character to be killed off. 
The actor asked for this because he “didn’t enjoy” filming and didn’t feel the importance of his character (he played Grand Maester Pycelle). The directors complied with his request.
10. Actress Troian Bellisario wanted her character killed off in Pretty Little Liars (2010) 
The actress wanted her character Spencer to die because she believed that after death the characters in the series become more interesting. She also believed that the death of one of the "deceivers" would add spice and danger. However, her heroine lived to the end.
11. Channing Tatum wanted to be killed in Rise of Cobra 
He didn’t even want to star in the first film, “Rise of Cobra”: he refused seven times, but in the end he was forced to star in it under a contract. That's why he asked that in the second film, Rise of Cobra 2, his character be killed off in the first 10 minutes.
12. Jamie Lee Curtis returned to the Halloween franchise only on the condition that her character die 
Her character was killed off in the film, but she eventually returned to the franchise in 2017.
13. Mischa Barton asked to kill her character in The O.C. 
The actress called the death of her character Marissa in a car accident "a great and unforgettable moment."
14. Actor Aidan Turner left Being Human to star in The Hobbit - and asked to kill his character 
The actor asked to kill his character, the vampire Mitchell, in the TV series Being Human. The creators of the series did just that.
15. Actor Dean Norris wanted his character Hank to die in the first half of the final season. 
Norris asked the creators of the series about this, however, director Vince Gilligan rejected his request - and “killed” the character later.
16. Actor Kevin Alejandro also asked that his character in Lucifer, Dan, be killed off. 
He asked that the character be killed off when audiences were just beginning to understand and sympathize with him, to create a surprise effect. In the end, this was done much later.
17. Actress Emma Caulfill wanted her character dead in the series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” 
The actress asked that her character Anya be killed if the series does not end after the 7th season. She believed that her death would be very opportune and very “poetic.”
18. Sigourney Weaver wanted her character killed off in the third film of the Alien saga 
She asked for this when she learned that the creators were going to make Alien vs. Predator.
19. Actor Jeffrey DeMunn asked to be removed from The Walking Dead after director Frank Darabont left the series after the first season. 
According to the actor, he was upset by the way Frank Darabont was removed from the series, and he also decided to leave. His character's death was a "huge relief" for him.
20. As The Vampire Diaries came to an end, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder (stars Stefan and Damon) decided that their characters had to die. 
"We wanted the brothers to die together. And we argued about which one would die first," Wesley said in an interview.
