Games based on films with Sylvester Stallone (15 photos)
Many 90s action films were ported to 8-bit and 16-bit platforms. Naturally, films with Sylvester Stallone were no exception.
And today we will remember games on 8-bit and 16-bit consoles based on films with Sylvester Stallone.
Demolition Man (Sega)
I consider one of the best games based on films with Sylvester Stallone to be the game "Demilition man". The game is a juicy action platformer in which we take on the role of police officer John Spartan, who must destroy the villain Simon Phoenix.
The game is simply full of action and variety. During the game, we not only have to run and shoot, but also do somersaults, climb walls, ceilings, throw grenades at opponents, and much more.
In addition, the game has two modes. As in the cult game "Super Contra", some levels will have to be completed from a top view. In general, the game simply will not let you get bored.
Cliffhanger (NES)
The game "Cliffhanger" was the only game based on films with Sylvester Stallone that I played on the "Dandy" console, although in principle there were very few of them. The most iconic games settled on the Sega mega drive 2 console.
The plot of the game follows the events of the film. Our hero will have to walk through mountainous terrain, kill enemies, climb ropes, ladders and rocks, and much more. At the beginning we can only rely on our fists, but then the hero will find stones, throwing knives and even a pistol.
The graphics in the game, of course, leave much to be desired, but the gameplay itself is quite good. Particularly funny was the moment when we had to slide down the slope on the corpse of the enemy, as if on a snowboard.
Well, it’s also worth noting the very terrifying music that will accompany the player throughout the game.
Cliffhanger (Sega)
Sega's version of the game "Cliffhanger" is very different from the 8-bit version. If on “Dandy” the game was a platformer, then on “Sega mega drive” the game was already made in the “Beat em up” genre and was very much reminiscent of the cult “Streets of Rage”. That is, Gabe had to deal with waves of opponents, after which he could move on. But if we compare this game with "Streets of Rage", then "Cliffhanger" will be left far behind.
Gabe initially has only his own fists (as in the NES version), but he can knock out a variety of weapons from his enemies, such as a knife or an Uzi.
The rest of the gameplay is classic. We have to move forward, killing enemies, and also jump over cliffs, climb ropes and rocks, which is very logical for a game called “Rock Climber”. Of course, this is far from the best game with Sly. And I would even say that this is the worst game based on the film with Stallone on the Sega mega drive 2.
Judge Dredd (Sega)
But the game "Judge Dredd", created based on the film of the same name, turned out to be quite interesting. And in principle, it can be put on a par with the game "Destroyer".
We are given control of Judge Joseph Dredd himself, who has a variety of weapons at his disposal to destroy his enemies. But the most interesting thing is that you can not only kill enemies, but also arrest them, receiving additional points for this.
In terms of passing, the game is not replete with much variety, but nevertheless there is one level that differs sharply from the rest in gameplay. We have to go through it on a flying motorcycle, shooting back from enemies.
Rocky (Sega master system)
It is quite strange that the game "Rocky" was released only on the 8-bit "Sega maste system" console. It is because of this that few people in our country have seen it.
The game is a simple fighting game, namely boxing matches in the ring. But before each fight, the player needs to pass a qualification, namely, punch a punching bag for a while.
The game itself is not only simple, but also short, and can be completed in just 15-20 minutes. Well, what do you want from a game that has only 3 matches and 3 qualifying training sessions?
But it is worth noting that at least all the fights, or rather the opponents, were taken from the film. The first enemy is Apollo Creed, the second is Lang, and the third is Drago.
Rambo (NES)
Personally, I didn’t have a chance to play this game, but still I couldn’t help but talk about it.
The game "Rambo" is a very dull platformer, where old John Rambo has to run through the jungle, destroying various enemies, including snakes, which will be encountered in huge quantities at the very beginning of the game.
As the game progresses, John Rambo will collect a variety of weapons and even level up, gaining experience for killed enemies. With each new level, Rambo will become stronger and more deadly.
Rambo (Master system)
The 8-bit Sega also featured Rambo, but it was very different from the aforementioned NES game. This time the game is not a platformer, but a top-down game. It even somewhat resembles the famous game “Jackal” on the NES console. Only instead of jeeps, we are given control of, in fact, John Rambo himself.
The same version of the game could be seen by owners of the cult home computer "ZX Spectrum", but, of course, in its own unique graphics.
Of course, I could have missed something, so be sure to write in the comments which games based on Stallone films you remember, and which one you liked the most.
