A component of civilization is production. And the more developed a civilization is, the more inventions and benefits it provides. And, as a result, garbage and waste. Since the area of waste recycling, although important and topical, it, unfortunately, is not given enough attention.

On average, a resident of a medium-sized and large city produces about half a ton of waste per year. Some of them are destroyed, some are recycled. But there are specialized landfills - a kind of techno-cemeteries, where technology, equipment and other non-standard things go to wait in the wings. And once you find yourself in such an environment, you involuntarily feel some kind of surreal or involvement in the post-apocalyptic era.

And once upon a time we shone and beckoned...

Everyone knows that Las Vegas is the center of the gaming and entertainment industry. And the bright and attractive neon signs that fill every building are a kind of business card of the city. They declare, attract, call, making the surroundings look like a fairy-tale bird or a New Year tree.

And when the signs wear out, they are sent to a special landfill. It is located here in Las Vegas. And it is such a fascinating sight that they sell tickets here as if they were going to a museum. The techno-cemetery is very clean, well-groomed, everything is in order here. But the feeling that some crazy loser will jump out from around the corner to get some money and continue the game does not leave you.

Hello-hello, I'm calling you

In the age of cellular communications, telephone booths are practically a thing of the past. In London and some other cities they were generally a symbol of the era. There was a certain spirit of stability, solidity and conservatism about them.

In the UK, given the reverent attitude of local residents towards this symbol of the old world, there are two landfills of telephone booths. The owner of one of them is Mike Shores, an elderly man who has spent almost his entire life collecting outdated booths. The mass of identical objects logically evokes underlying fear - something like horror due to the uprising of machines. So the setting for a horror movie in such a place is quite suitable.

We drove and drove and finally arrived

According to some data, with a population of about 900 thousand people, there are about a million bicycles in Amsterdam. This type of transport is already very popular here. But the iron horses that have served their time need to go somewhere. Here it is Fietsdepot - a dump where forgotten bikes are sent.

But this does not mean that any abandoned bicycle is immediately taken to the trash heap. First, the police compile a detailed description and check whether the two-wheeler is listed as stolen, since the owners can apply to search for the stolen one. But about 60% of bicycles whose owners are not identified are sent to a landfill or sold at auction.

Tire Graveyard

There is such a place, fascinating in its monotony, in Kuwait. About 7 million units of these products have already accumulated here, and their number is increasing every day. The accumulation of tires is so large that it can even be seen in satellite images.

Plus, this mass causes enormous damage to the environment. Especially during a fire, releasing a huge amount of harmful substances and compounds into the atmosphere.

Ending station

One of the very first, popular and widespread modes of transport, allowing you to comfortably travel long distances, is railway. But since nothing lasts forever in the sublunary world, locomotives and carriages that have served their purpose are sent to such cemeteries.

They look depressing because of their lifelessness. After all, the railway is a small life with bustle, the joy of meetings, tears of parting, leisurely conversations over a glass of tea and confessions to strangers over a glass of alcohol. And the dead trains, which have fallen silent, leaving the measured clatter of wheels forever in the past, leave a particularly depressing impression.

What other landfills would you add to this list?
