Taking risks for the sake of the audience: Hollywood actors who are ready to perform any stunts on their own (11 photos + 10 videos)
Among Hollywood stars there are few actors who are willing to risk their health, or even their lives, for the sake of a beautiful shot to the delight of the viewer. However, there are some. And that’s exactly what we’ll be talking about.
Viggo Mortensen, who played the “King of the Dead” Aragorn in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, suffered many serious injuries during filming. And this is not surprising, considering how many battle scenes there are in the film. And all because he independently wore heavy armor, rode a horse and wielded iron swords.
Everyone knows that Jackie Chan independently performs all acrobatic sketches in films. And he started his career as a stuntman. So broken arms, legs, nose, spine, skull are commonplace for him. But there are so many emotions presented to the viewer.

Christian Bale spends a lot of time working on his appearance to film a particular project. He can lose or gain 30 kilograms, pump himself up in order to get used to the proposed role as much as possible. On the set of The Dark Knight, he himself performed dangerous stunts, including walking along the edge of a high-rise roof with minimal effort.

Keanu Reeves prepares for his roles just as well as Bale, also preferring to do all his own stunts. In John Wick, the main character is a master of martial arts. For the role, Reeves studied for it every day, 8 hours a day, for 4 months. And in the film Speed, Reeves jumped from a convertible to a bus without stuntmen.

Sylvester Stallone also performed all his own stunts, striving for authenticity, which repeatedly cost him his health. During the filming of “Rocky,” Dolph Lundgren sent Stallone to the hospital, and in “The Expendables,” the actor’s neck was completely broken.

Daniel Craig also strived to perform as many of his own stunts as possible in Bond. For example, he independently jumped on cranes in the episode “Casino Royale.”

Previously, stuntmen performed all the stunts for Tom Cruise, exactly until the moment when he decided to try to do everything himself. Thus, in almost all parts of Mission: Impossible, he demonstrated his skills, such as flying on the door of an airplane and climbing a tall building using a cable.

For the film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, there was no budget allocated to hire stuntmen, which is why Jason Statom had to do his own stunts. In his subsequent roles, he also tries not to resort to doubles. So, on the set of The Expendables, the car Statham was riding in had a brake failure and it fell into the sea.

In the Jason Bourne films, Matt Damon also performed all his own stunts - from numerous fights to motorcycle chases. He even dived into the water, although he is damn afraid of depth.

Harrison Ford's stuntman Vic Armstrong joked on the set of Indiana Jones that he would soon be out of work, because the actor wanted to do most of his own stunts.
