There are many beautiful and breathtaking places on our planet that delight us with their beauty and historical significance.

In our article today, we will look at some of these amazing but forbidding locations around the world. From classified government sites to restricted areas.

But more details about everything in our new article:

(Snake Island) Ilha da Queimada Grande

Brazil

Meet Queimada Grande, also known as Snake Island, located just 35 km from Brazil. However, you will not be able to visit it.

This unusual place has been declared illegal by the Brazilian government for any civilians and travelers. Moreover, fishing is even prohibited near this island.

Why?

A scientist once said that if you set foot on Snake Island, “you will be 1 meter away from death.” The thing is that Queimada Grande has the highest concentration of one of the deadliest snakes in the world - the island bothrops. These snakes (literally) have taken over this entire island. But they are so rare (since they live only on this island) that the Brazilian government, in order to preserve the lives of people and the flora and fauna of the island, simply imposed a ban on visiting it.

Inhospitable to humans, the island is also rife with various myths: some say it is a hidden place with the treasures of ancient pirates. All we know is that you should stay away from this island unless you want to encounter one of the deadly snakes.

Surtsey

Iceland

This island south of Iceland was recently formed (November 14, 1963) by a volcanic eruption in the 1960s, making it the youngest formed hard rock landform in the world.

For this reason, Surtsey is protected from human intervention and is considered one of the most forbidden places in the world that cannot be visited.

This uninhabited island can best be described as a pristine natural laboratory that can only be accessed by scientists. Those visiting Surtsey can stay in the only man-made structure on the island, a small hut with bunk beds inside.

The island provides scientists with invaluable information about the appearance of life on it in the form of various microorganisms, flora and fauna.

For the sake of science, you will have to accept that you will never be able to visit this pristine and untouched island.

North Sentinel Island

India

North Sentinel Island, located in the Bay of Bengal, is home to one of the world's last uncontacted tribes, the Sentinelese.

Local residents, unfamiliar with modern civilization, are ready to preserve their way of life by any means possible.

So unless you want to be hit by a barrage of arrows and rocks, we definitely don't advise you to visit North Sentinel Island in India.

However, history knows of (at least) one case where a brave priest illegally sailed there to convert the Sentinelese to Christianity. Let's say right away that his idea failed, because the natives shot him with their bows.

This island is also guarded by the Indian Navy. You are not allowed to come within 5 nautical miles of the island as the local population wants to be left alone.

We can all only guess what their world is like...

Global Seed Vault in Svalbard

Norway

Built into the side of a mountain on the island of Svalbard, halfway between mainland Norway and the North Pole, the World Seed Vault is one of the safest and most forbidden places to visit on Earth.

More than 960 thousand seeds from countries around the world are stored here. This is a human reserve in case of an unforeseen disaster or cataclysm on planet Earth, in which case certain plants on the planet may be destroyed. And to prevent this from happening, the World Seed Vault will help humanity restore extinct or destroyed plants.

Only a few people who work there are allowed inside. The vault is protected by several heavy doors and electronic security features. Better yet, you can only get there by plane or snowmobile.

The Svalbard Global Seed Vault is definitely a great place, but people should avoid trying to get there because all of humanity risks regretting it if we ever lose all our food sources. Just food for thought!

Zone 51

USA

We can't make a list of prohibited sites without mentioning the legendary Area 51, a highly classified US Air Force facility located in the Nevada desert.

The existence of the base was only acknowledged by the US government in 2013, and its purpose is shrouded in mystery. The site has been at the center of countless conspiracy theories, with many believing it to be a place for research into extraterrestrial technology and aliens. But despite strictly limited access to the base, conspiracy theorists have made numerous attempts to get inside, compromise its security and reveal its secrets.

This concludes our journey through some of the most forbidden places in the world. These hidden places continue to capture our imagination and fuel our curiosity. So until next time, have a great adventure and continue to explore the world around you, but be sure to obey the "No Trespassing" signs.
