"Pulp Fiction" is a cult film directed by Quentin Tarantino, released in 1994. Here are some interesting facts about this film and photos from the filming.

1. Initially, there was no Vincent Vega in the script, but there was a character named Vic Vega, whose role was to be played by Michael Madsen, who played Mr. Blonde in the film “Reservoir Dogs” by the same Quentin Tarantino.

Unfortunately, Madsen was unable to take part in the filming of Pulp Fiction, which is why the role of Jules' partner went to John. Also, Tarantino decided to change the character's name from Vic to Vincent.

2. The film's budget was a measly 8.5 million dollars. Moreover, 5 million went to the actors’ salaries. Bruce Willis even lowered his fee to star in this film. And John Travolta received only 150 thousand dollars for the role of Vincent Vega. Although, this is not so little compared to many other actors.

3. Tarantino came to John's house with an offer to play the role of Vincent Vega. But the most interesting thing is that Tarantino and Travolta discussed this role not over a glass of alcoholic drink, but while playing board games, of which both Travolta and Quentin himself are a fan.

4. Quentin Tarantino often appears in small roles in his films. And of course the film "Pulp Fiction" was no exception. He thought about playing Jimmy in the final story, or the role of drug dealer Lance.

But after thinking about it, Quentin decided that the scene with Lance and Mia Wallace passed out from an overdose was too difficult, so he definitely had to sit behind the camera and not be in the epicenter of the events. He ended up taking the role of Jimmy.

By the way, the scene with Jimmy was filmed by his friend and colleague Robert Rodriguez, with whom he worked together several times.

5. The scene with the injection of a syringe with adrenaline was filmed in the first take. But did Vincent really manage to hit the point drawn with a felt-tip pen so accurately? Of course not. The syringe was initially stuck in, and Travolta only pulled it out. Well, then the scene was played backwards.

6. Initially, Tarantino wanted the characters in his film to smoke Lucky Strike brand cigarettes. There were even quite a few posters created, depicting Mia Wallace, next to whom lies a pack of this brand.

But Quentin was unable to reach an agreement with a well-known company, which is why he decided to use Red Apple cigarettes, which are a fictional brand, in the film. Tarantino came up with this brand specifically for the film.

Well, then Tarantino began using cigarettes from his fictional brand “Red apple” in many of his films, and even in the film “The Hateful Eight”, which takes place in the 19th century.

7. Another fictional brand is the Kahuna Burger, where the robbery scene takes place. Burgers from this diner can also be seen in Robert Rodriguez's film From Dusk Till Dawn, where Quentin Tarantino played one of the roles. By the way, he wrote the script.

8. With a budget of $8.5 million, the film “Pulp Fiction” grossed $214 million, making the film a mega-success.

9. By the way, Kurt Cobain himself could have played the role of drug dealer Lance. The leader of Nirvana thought about it for a long time, but ultimately decided against it. As a result, the role went to Eric Stoltz.

10. The Bible verse that Samuel L. Jackson's character quotes doesn't actually exist. It was invented by the actor and director himself.

11. Mia Wallace tells Vincent about the pilot episode of the series in which she starred. According to her, the series was about five female agents from the Fox Force Five team. Their leader was a blonde, an Asian woman was a martial artist, a dark-skinned woman was an explosives expert, and the last one was very good with knives.

Doesn't remind you of anything? Yes, this is the squad of “Deadly Vipers” from the film “Kill Bill”, which Tarantino will film only in 2005.

12. After watching the film, many viewers were eager to find out what was stored in the very suitcase that Vincent opened. What was that golden glow? Many options were proposed, but for the audience it remained a mystery.

13. The film "Pulp Fiction" received an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. A worthy award, but Quentin himself was a little upset that he did not receive the most desired Oscars for a director, namely for Best Picture and Best Director.

14. Initially, Uma Thurman refused to star in this film, but Tarantino literally got her. He even called her on the phone and read out the script. As a result, she agreed to this role, which, of course, she never regretted.

15. Every time Vincent went to the toilet, something happened:

In the first novella, Mia fell unconscious from an overdose precisely after Vincent went to the toilet. In the third story, the sweet couple began their robbery precisely after Vincent went to the restroom. Well, in the second story, a trip to the toilet cost him his life. More precisely, of course, not the campaign itself, but its carelessness.

16. The back of Marcellus Wallace’s head with a band-aid stuck on it often flashes in the frame. Many people think that this was some kind of director’s idea, and he wants to say something by this. But in reality, everything is outrageously simple. Actor Ving Rhames, who played Marcellus, simply cut himself while shaving his head.
