Critics on the website Rotten Tomatoes rated the horror films released in the last couple of years and ranked the best representatives. 
The modern film industry is rich in a variety of horror films that are released on wide screens almost every month. However, alas, among them there are not many cinematic gems that can captivate with a fascinating plot and at the same time really tickle your nerves. Critics on the website Rotten Tomatoes have assessed a lot of the latest horror films that have appeared in theaters over the past couple of years, and have compiled an up-to-date rating for 2023, which includes the best of them.
Leech of the Mind (2023) - 18th place 
Country: Canada
Plot: It's 1988. A strange creature is settling in the countryside, terrifying all the locals.
Forest of Death (2023) - 17th place

Plot: Four friends decide to rent a house outside the city in order to have a good rest. While they are enjoying the privacy of their cozy nest, the evil living in the forest is preparing to strike a crushing blow.
They Wait in the Dark (2022) - 16th place

Plot: Amy and her son Andrian are on the run. They take refuge on an abandoned farm, which is located not far from the city. Soon, Andrian begins to be hunted by an ominous something, with whom Amy has a shared past.
The Spell of Abizu (2022) - 15th place

Plot: Beth comes to Los Angeles to visit her sister Ellie, who is going through a difficult separation from her husband, who left her alone with three children. The sisters decide to talk privately, so they decide to send the kids out for pizza. Suddenly, an earthquake occurs in the city, resulting in a sinkhole. The eldest son named Danny discovers an ancient volume and mysterious records in it. Quite by accident, a boy releases evil forces that possess his mother. Now she wants to drag everyone around her, and especially them, into the underworld.
Angry Black Girl and Her Monster (2023) - 11th place

Infinity Pool (2023) - 9th place

Plot: Writer James Foster vacations with his wife at a gated resort in a third world country. One day, returning from a picnic, he kills a local resident with his car. Now the writer will have to face the severity of local laws.
Sick (2022) - 8th place

Plot: A country goes into self-isolation after a collision with a dangerous virus. A girl named Parker and her friend Miri decide to quarantine at a lake house. However, the friends do not suspect that someone is already watching them.
Got Dark (2022) - 7th place

Plot: Friends (all African-Americans) gather at a party in a luxurious forest house. They don't find some of their friends there, but they do find a strange and very unpleasant board game. Suddenly, the doors in the entire house are blocked and now those present must answer the inconvenient questions of the “black” quiz, otherwise one of them will die.

Plot: Five best friends come to support a friend who recently lost his wife. Suddenly they come up with a crazy idea - to hold a seance.
Island of Illusions (2022) - 5th place

Plot: Influencer Madison spends her vacation in Thailand, where she meets a mysterious girl who knows the area very well. After some time, she goes with a new friend to a desert island - something very unexpected awaits her there.
M3GAN (2022) - 4th place 
Country: New Zealand, USA
Plot: Cady, along with her mom and dad, gets into a car accident, as a result of which the girl’s parents die. Aunt Gemma, who took her niece into her care, decides to give her a technologically advanced doll named M3gan. A toy with excellent artificial intelligence must protect the child from any physical and moral harm. But M3gan takes his task too literally.

Plot: Teenagers in a small Australian town have a new and rather strange entertainment - they need to shake a ceramic hand and say “Talk to me.” The ritual allows you to see a ghost and even let it into you for a short time. The previous owner of the artifact died under mysterious circumstances, but this fact does not stop the guys until one of the summoned ghosts becomes their acquaintance.
Child of Darkness (2022) - 1st place 
Country: Mexico
Plot: Valeria rejoices at her long-awaited pregnancy. However, her relatives are sure that she is not cut out to be a mother. The girl intends to prove the opposite. One night, Valeria witnesses a terrible incident - she sees a woman jumping out of a nearby window and being horribly injured. From this moment on, the girl begins to be possessed by strange visions and thoughts.
