25 gorgeous TV series that have hopelessly deteriorated over time (26 photos)
One Reddit user invited other community members to remember series that seemed like a real masterpiece at the beginning, but over time they declined to such an extent that they became unwatchable. The viral thread already has more than 30 thousand comments, and here are the most popular ones.
1. The Walking Dead
"The first couple of seasons were great, with good pacing. The later seasons only tell one story at a time. They show a cliffhanger with the eventual death of a character, and then show other stories for three weeks. By the time the show returns to the cliffhanger, you're no longer you understand what’s happening. That’s why, and also because it started to repeat itself.”
2. Game of Thrones
"I loved it for the first 5 seasons. The sixth season only strengthened my love, but I remember that's when the first cracks started to show. The seventh went downhill very quickly and I refused to tarnish my memories with the eighth."
3. Grey's Anatomy
"100% Grey's Anatomy. It was a great show, but I just can't keep up with all the twists and turns and crazy happenings anymore. It's also not funny anymore. It should have ended seasons ago."
4. Once Upon a Time
"The first 3 seasons were great. After that the show got worse and worse."
5. Westworld
"Season 1 was an almost perfect one-season story. If they had any balls, they would have stopped there and gone down as one of the best one-season series of all time. But some idiots HBO brought a truck full of money, and we all know how it ended..."
6. Hundred
“There is a lot to quote in it, but, my God, the endless self-sabotage of the main character is just annoying.”
7. Heroes
"The first season was great and something really new. The second season didn't know what to do with itself and just started giving everyone superpowers. By the third season, the characters just started changing motivations at the drop of a hat, and overall it was just a huge mess of bad script."
8. True Blood
"I stopped watching when the fairies appeared."
9. Garbage
“Let's replace the entire cast with less interesting characters and stop them from using their powers. Shall we go to lunch?
10. How to get away with murder
"The first season had some intrigue and plot... And then they just started killing people left and right."
11. House of Cards
"The first two seasons were amazing. After that, the show started to deteriorate.
It seems to me that there should have been 2 seasons about him becoming president, and then 2 seasons about how everything goes downhill. There are 4 seasons in total, 1 for each suit. Two to build a house of cards, and two to make it fall apart."
12. How I met your mother
"What's most infuriating is that if they ended the show after four seasons like the creators wanted, then the ending that everyone hates would actually make sense, because then they wouldn't have proven 4 or 5 times that Robin and Ted is a bad match."
13. Riverdale
"I have my suspicions that the guy who writes Riverdale has never spoken to a real teenager. I keep watching it just for fun. Archie and the gang now have superpowers and fight an evil wizard (no, I'm not making this up)."
14. Flash
"The Flash and Arrow were ruined by Netflix's Daredevil, showing just how well it can be done. I loved both Arrow and The Flash, but then Daredevil came out and I started noticing constant inconsistencies and budget issues. But I will say that Grant Gustin makes a really good Barry Allen."
15. Bones
"Initially it was a fresh setting for a procedural with likable, well-developed characters. But then Brennan was flanderized starting in season four, and the show was never the same."
16. Vikings
"I stopped watching after Ragnar. I love Lagertha with all my heart, but it was obvious that the Boneless would turn into a complete psycho. I'm also still furious about the way Siggy died. BURN IN HELL, ASLAUG!"
17. Blacklist
“A lot of loopholes and an endless plot. Well, that is, the heroine (forgot her name) was wanted, and her photographs were shown live all over the country, but in just a couple of weeks she can already easily work undercover.”
18. Arrow
"The first season of Arrow was great while he was killing everyone. I wish he had never discovered the magic of friendship."
19. Choir
"Actually, when Glee first came out, it was a fun show, such a secret obsession. Then after about 4-6 episodes there was a writers' strike, and when the show finally came back, it got worse and worse, to the point where that it became impossible to watch."
20. Office (US version)
"The writers clearly lost direction after Steve [Carrell] left. The characters began to behave, well, out of character. The new characters were kind of strange. The storylines became thinner. Of course, I'm glad they didn't cancel the series immediately after leaving Steve. I would be crazy if I didn't see how some of the characters' lives developed. But you can definitely tell from the last few seasons that they knew the show couldn't continue without Steve. They were just taking their time to figure out how it all worked out. wrap it up nicely and throw in a few cameos at the same time.”
21. Castle
"By the end of filming, the leads hated each other... and it showed! The creators had to come up with a stupid storyline to keep them apart."
22. Supernatural
"The first seasons were insanely good, and then it all devolved into 'what weird monster can we shoehorn in between killing and resurrecting the Winchester boys and all their friends/family?'
23. Doctor Who
"I'm aware of the hate for the Chibnall era of Doctor Who, and some of the complaints are indeed justified, but that's not what I'm talking about here. The show just stopped being fun. When watching a show starts to feel like work, it's probably time to let it go. And I have to say, it bothers me... Doctor Who has been a huge part of my childhood and my whole life since the mid-80s. It sucks that it evokes such feelings now."
24. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
"He was really cool. And then... Jesus Christ, the main character is a Mary Sue, everyone always listens to her, you always know that none of her friends are going to die, and the trouble she gets herself and her friends into is... In fact, they are not threatened in any way. What a shame.”
25. Developmental delay
"The last 2 seasons of Arrested Development were just painful to watch. The story became unnecessarily convoluted and just plain boring."
