Variations of an Italian dish you might not know about





We are all accustomed to the usual round pizza, which is served with various toppings.

Pizza originates in Italy, where it became popular due to its easy preparation and low cost. The original recipe really wasn’t very expensive: dough, butter and tomatoes.





But later they experimented with the dish, added new ingredients, and the spread of pizza in other countries only contributed to the addition of new toppings.

Today, pizza can be found in almost every corner of the planet, and it is often almost a favorite delicacy.



However, not everyone knows that pizza can also be different, and now we are not just talking about tastes.



For example, okonomiyaki, a type of fast food from Japan that is prepared with a batter. The result is a small flatbread, poured with sauce and sprinkled with tuna.



By the way, in many restaurants in the Land of the Rising Sun, cooking stoves are built into the tables for visitors, and if they wish, they can prepare their own okonomiyaki.

And the next variation, stromboli, appeared thanks to Italian migrants to the United States. More reminiscent of shawarma than pizza.



However, parallels can be drawn not only based on the appearance, but also on the method of preparation.



For a pizza roll, you need a square sheet of dough on which the filling is placed. Next, all the goodness is wrapped and sent to the oven or oven. The result is a delicious bundle of fried dough, juicy filling and tomato sauce.



But there is also a calzone, a pizza pie. This is already a closed dish in the shape of a crescent, and rather it is ordinary baked goods without sauces.



With the same success, you can go to the nearest stall and buy a bun, if you don’t take into account the filling.



But this is what distinguishes calzone from other products, since it is similar to regular pizza.



In various countries you can find a variety called Kono-pizza, which looks the part. A cone mold made of dough, the base of which is sauce and cheese.



The rest of the ingredients can be anything: sea creatures, meat, berries.



There is another option to surprise your stomach, but for this you will have to go to Toronto, namely the Magic Oven restaurant chain.



A local variation of the dish is covered in gold leaf and costs about a hundred dollars. Supposedly it is not harmful to health because it does not contain gluten. It is considered one of the most expensive pizzulas in the world.
