Habits that help not only save your honestly earned money, but also the environment at the same time.

1. Maintainability index

And the first country in the world to introduce it into use is France. This is a kind of device rating that reflects the ability to restore it after a breakdown. The innovation is designed to save consumers money and reduce the volume of toxic waste. Thus, the French authorities expect to increase the share of equipment repairs to 60% in five years.

2. Refusal of plastic

Many familiar objects are starting to be made from biodegradable components, for example, straws and ear sticks - from plants or paper.

Stores suggest carrying shopping bags (reusable fabric bags) with you so as not to buy bags. Coffee shops offer discounts if visitors bring their own mug for coffee. And taking water with you in a reusable bottle has already become a habit for many.

3. Smart homes

A multidisciplinary team is working on buildings being erected in the center of Moscow, thinking through their life cycle a hundred years in advance. And the “smart home” system, which is gaining popularity in developed countries of the world, not only increases comfort, but also helps to rationally use water and electricity.

4. Things have a second life

Second-hand stores, flea markets and websites where you can sell unwanted items or buy what you need are gaining momentum. People are learning to consume wisely, including giving a second life to unnecessary things. Nowadays it’s completely normal to sell or give away for free something that is no longer needed. And before you buy something new, you can look on the website - what if your neighbor has what you need, in excellent condition, and even cheaper?

5. Clothes made from recycled materials

Now it’s difficult to surprise anyone with this. Decorations from former dishes; sunglasses and frames made from recycled plastic from the ocean; bags made from banners and recycled materials; shoes made from garbage and fishing nets; clothing made from bags, fishing threads, recycled plastic, military uniforms, car seat covers and even airbags. You can also recycle your old clothes, and if they can't be reused, they can be turned into solid fuel and soundproofing material.

June 5 is World Environment Day. This holiday has one main goal - to attract public attention to environmental problems and urge people to eliminate them. The environmental situation on the planet could reach a critical point if we continued to exist mindlessly and consume resources.

Do you have eco-friendly habits?
