Not only seagulls, but also sperm whales: the best thieves among animals (8 photos)
Sometimes we watch in awe as our cat throws a piece of sausage off the table onto the floor and slyly jumps down after it.
However, cats are far from the only thieves from the animal world; for example, seagulls, monkeys and even… sperm whales can steal from people!
Scorpios steal gifts for females
Girls love gifts very much, even if this girl is... Scorpio. It is with gifts that the male tries to impress the female, presenting her with dead flies or mosquitoes. Only the males are very cunning, often they do not hunt, but simply steal. For example, they can steal a fly from a spider’s web or carry it away from under the nose of another male. The main thing here is to achieve the goal, namely the favor of the female.
Seagulls steal pelicans for food
Everyone knows the cheating seagulls that brazenly steal food right from each other. And what kind of fights can be observed on the coast over a piece of bread: it seems that they are ready to do anything for one piece.
However, seagulls steal not only on the shore, but also at sea: they deceive all waterfowl. The fact is that seagulls do not know how to dive and fish on their own, so they can only wait for someone else to do it. Pelicans are especially often the targets of their crimes. As soon as the pelican emerges with its prey and opens its beak to pour water from the throat sac, the seagull is right there: it instantly snatches the fish right out of the pelican’s mouth.
Squirrels steal from people
Squirrels seem cute to most of us, but they are very insidious animals, and many know this firsthand. In the underworld, they would make excellent burglars, as they sneak into houses and shops to steal seeds, nuts and other fruits. Squirrels especially become active in the spring, when their supplies are running low and new food has not yet appeared.
Arctic foxes steal from birds
In the harsh Arctic conditions, survival is not so easy, and simple white fur is not enough, so arctic foxes have learned to be skilled thieves. They sneak up on bird nests and steal eggs, scaring the birds away. Of course, light fur helps them with this: it is an excellent camouflage for these cute thieves.
Hyenas learned to steal from lions
Another of the most daring thieves from the animal world are hyenas. They are capable of stealing dinner even from the king of beasts or a leopard. Hyenas usually hunt in packs, and their numbers sometimes reach 80 individuals. So, when meeting another predator who has recently had a successful hunt, they can enter into a confrontation and take away its prey. Sometimes this happens with lions too.
In addition, hyenas are quite sneaky, and the story from “The Lion King” is very close to reality: the cubs of any predators can become prey for a pack of hyenas. And some animals even have to fear for their homes: for example, a hyena can drive a fox out of a hole in order to raise its offspring there.
Sperm whales steal from ships
Perhaps the most unusual criminals are sperm whales. It is very difficult to be a skilled thief when you weigh several tens of tons, but these whales cope with the task perfectly. They drift around fishing boats as if they don't care about humans at all. But as soon as the opportunity arises, they swim up to the ship and swallow the catch. For example, fishermen in Alaska complained about such theft: here giant criminals regularly steal from fishing ships and have even learned the routes that sailors take.
Monkeys can steal from people
Well, the most famous thieves are monkeys. In many Asian countries, travelers have encountered these robbers: they can easily take away your glasses, camera or phone. Tourists are always warned that valuables must be hidden, because it is unlikely that they will be taken back from the macaques.
