Laziness is an ambiguous quality. On the one hand, it is useful to periodically engage in idle nothingness. But on the other hand, this deprives many opportunities.
But if we humans can pull ourselves together, collect our thoughts and overcome laziness, then some representatives of the fauna world are not able to do this. After all, this is their essence - to be lazy and enjoy it.
Sloth in literal and figurative
Naturally, this is one of the recognized leaders in this field. Slowness is due to slow metabolism. And the champions of laziness spend 20 hours a day dozing in the trees, descending to the ground to relieve themselves no more than once a week.
King of beasts
Lions are the same cats, only big and with manes. And they sleep, like domestic cats, for 18-20 hours a day.
Black and white lazy man
Panda bears have taken the art of laziness to a new level. They sleep for 12 hours, then feast on bamboo for 3 hours and hibernate again. The fact is that panda food is low in nutrition, so it takes a long time to chew and digest kilograms of bamboo. And this takes away energy, which has to be replenished with long rest.
Ocean Homebody
The mustachioed nurse shark, unlike most of its living relatives, prefers to lie on the bottom of its sides and belly for 12 hours at a time. The shark becomes active only at night - it makes you hungry. But even here she demonstrates the wonders of laziness, not chasing prey, but lazily moving and sucking everything that falls into her mouth.
Night eater
Some of us are part Myrikin. After all, these monkeys are nocturnal and go out hunting after dark (like people in the refrigerator). And after satiation, they go on vacation, which can last up to 17 hours in a row.
river horse
Hippos are masterfully lazy both in their sleep and while awake. Having come across a fertile area, they can spend half a day in one place, methodically absorbing goodies. And then they go to rest and can digest what they have obtained through backbreaking labor for up to 20 hours.
Lazy bagman
Koalas have to sleep most of the day to digest their fiber-rich food. The basis of the diet of long-eared fur trappers is eucalyptus, the digestion of which requires a lot of strength and energy.
Concentrated laziness with blue tongue
The Adelaide Dwarf Bluetongue Skink, or Dwarf Bluetongue, is a cute lizard that could lay claim to the sloth championship. They are so lazy that they sit down with their little ears open, stick out their prominent bright tongue and wait until some small fry tries to explore them out of curiosity. They drink in the same way - wait until it rains. For a long time it was even believed that lizards became extinct due to this way of life. But they were simply too lazy to catch the eye of the researchers. The only activity that blue-tongued lazy people show is mating competitions. Quite in their spirit: the guys sit with their tongues hanging out and compare their beauty, waiting for the lady to choose the winner.
