6 movie mistakes that directors decided not to correct because the actors performed brilliantly (7 photos)
Episodes, largely thanks to which these films became masterpieces
"Scent of a Woman"
In the film "Scent of a Woman" Al Pacino played a blind man. The actor decided to use method acting based on the Stanislavski system and therefore actually limited his view so much that he could see virtually nothing. In one scene, he and Chris O'Donnell were crossing the road when they accidentally tripped over a trash can and fell. Al Pacino did not go out of character and allowed Chris to help. Director Martin Brest decided not to do a second take because of this mistake because it looked so organic.
"To the stars"
Brad Pitt in the film “Ad Astra” played the role of the cold-blooded Roy McBride, who at the end of the film could not control his emotions and shed a tear. Brad Pitt doesn't cry on screen very often, so every tear he makes is worth its weight in gold. They are especially precious, given that Pitt plays out such a state perfectly. After the completed take, the actor approached director James Gray and said that in post-production it would be necessary to direct his tear upward according to the laws of physics, but James decided otherwise - he praised Brad’s performance as highly as possible and told him that because of this he would leave everything as it was .
"True Lies"
"True Lies" is an action-comedy "in which some of the comedy is ordinary improvisation. Jamie Lee Curtis, who had to perform a dance with practically no clothes, especially distinguished herself during filming. Considering the shape of the actress, the scene looked quite adult, however one moment ruined all the seriousness. During the dance, Jamie Lee Curtis fell, and it looked quite painful, but she did not stop and continued to play, and James Cameron decided to leave this moment, which added a comedic component to the scene.
"Mrs. Doubtfire"
Robin Williams was a master of comedy. He didn't even need a text to feel confident during filming, and one of the scenes in the movie "Mrs. Doubtfire" is proof of this. In the episode where his character is forced to get cake frosting all over his face to avoid stabbing himself in front of a social worker, Robin Williams improvised a bit. The icing, which should have been quite dense on his face, began to melt due to the bright light and fall straight into the glasses into which Robin poured tea. The scene that went off plan did not cause any inconvenience to Williams. He continued playing and made a couple of jokes about cream and sugar that worked so well that no one even noticed the trick.
"The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers"
The main trio of the Fellowship of the Ring, Viggo Mortensen, Orlando Bloom and John Rhys-Davies, suffered many injuries, the largest number of which were suffered by Viggo. He broke bones, lost part of a tooth and almost drowned. In the scene where Aragorn thinks that the hobbits died during the clash between the orcs and the horsemen of the Rohirrim, he kicked the orc helmet and screamed. None of this was according to the script. Viggo kicked the helmet, but didn't expect it to be so hard that it broke his toes. After this, Viggo fell and screamed in pain, and Peter Jackson thought that Mortensen was just continuing to play. On the one hand, this was the case; although Viggo did not act, he did everything to ensure that the filming did not stop.
"Django Unchained"
Leonardo DiCaprio also distinguished himself, guaranteeing the high quality of the film. Even if the film is bad, it will definitely be worth watching at least for DiCaprio's performance. But fortunately, Django Unchained is good in every way, and not just because of Leo's performance.
Towards the end of the film, Calvin Candie, played by DiCaprio, slammed his hand on the table and broke a glass, cutting his hand with the shards. No one noticed the blood right away, so the filming continued, and then everyone began to pay attention to the fact that DiCaprio had blood all over his hand, but no one stopped acting, and Leo himself even emphasized it, as if it was planned. Genuine horror can be read in the eyes of all the actors. However, DiCaprio did not stop there and suggested smearing blood on the face of Broomhilda, played by Kerry Washington, but, naturally, in the next take, using fake blood.
