The wine marathon is held in the Medoc region (Bordeaux)
The route passes through many different vineyards, castles and estates
Runners are offered water along the way to keep them from getting too dehydrated.
But why drink water when you can drink a glass of good wine instead?
There are several drinking establishments along the route. You can stop at these points for wine and cheese tasting
You can also try local oysters, grapes and ice cream
Every year a theme is chosen for the costumes, and at the end of the race the winner of the costume contest is announced

The fastest time recorded in the 2018 race was just under two hours and 26 minutes. It was installed by the French athlete Denis Maillot
