Leonardo DiCaprio has been considered one of the best actors in Hollywood for two decades. Despite having a long and successful filmography, DiCaprio has missed out on the opportunity to work in some of the best films to date. Let's find out which films he was considered for, but was never hired - or he turned it down himself.

Interview with the Vampire (1994)

In the '90s, Leo DiCaprio was in line to play the interviewer in Interview with the Vampire. At first it was assumed that this role would go to River Phoenix, but after his death, the producers decided to cast Christian Slater rather than DiCaprio in the role of the interviewer. He received 250 thousand dollars for the role.

Batman Forever (1995)

During the casting of Batman Forever, director Joel Schumacher considered DiCaprio for the role of Robin, but he was ultimately played by Chris O'Donnell, who went on to star in subsequent sequels. O'Donnell received a total of about $1.5 million.

"Star Wars: Episode 2 – Attack of the Clones", 2002

Many actors were invited to play the iconic role of Anakin Skywalker, including Paul Walker and Leonardo DiCaprio. However, the choice of the film's management fell on actor Hayden Christensen. He earned about $1.5 million.

"Angels and Demons", 2009

Tom Hanks reportedly personally offered her to Leonardo DiCaprio for the role of Camerlengo Patrick McKenna in Angels and Demons. However, DiCaprio was not particularly interested in the role and turned it down. The role ultimately went to Ewan McGregor, who earned almost $2 million.

"Spider-Man"

Finding an actor to play Spider-Man in the 2000s took a long time, as the film franchise was just getting started at the time. DiCaprio was one of the leading candidates for the role, but ultimately turned it down, after which the role went to Tobey Maguire. Maguire earned $4 million from the first Spider-Man film alone.

"Cold Mountain", 2003

Leonardo DiCaprio was one of the first to be chosen for the lead role in the film Cold Mountain, but it went to Jude Law. The film performed well at the box office, grossing $165 million and becoming one of the best films of 2003. Jude Law was paid $10 million for the role.

"Matrix"

Many popular actors were considered for the lead role of Neo in The Matrix, including Leonardo DiCaprio. At that time, many actors were hesitant to take on this role - and DiCaprio did not like the “excessive special effects” most of all. In the end, they chose Keanu Reeves, for whom the film brought about $100 million and worldwide popularity.
