The Pixar studio has been producing feature-length cartoons since 1995, and during this time 27 projects have been released, thanks to which the company has built a reputation as a stable creator of masterpieces. That is why we were interested to find out which studio cartoons have the lowest audience scores, and at least formally identify the “ten worst”.
Yes, listing the least successful Pixar projects can hardly be called a list of failures, since even among them there are plenty of excellent cartoons. It’s just that the studio’s quality bar is so high that films with these, let’s be honest, not the lowest audience ratings (at least half the time) seem like failures in the context of those other masterpieces for which Pixar is famous.
Monsters University (2013)
IMDb: 7.2
As you can see, the sequel to “Monsters, Inc.” has quite good ratings, but in comparison with the first part (8.1/8.1) this is a serious drawdown.
The Adventures of Flick (1998)
IMDb: 7.2
The same cartoon that many people confuse with Ant Antz. Watching “The Adventures of Flick” today, you might be surprised at how much the quality of computer-made cartoons has advanced since those times.
Cars (2006)
IMDb: 7.2
“Cars” can easily be called the most unsuccessful series of Pixar cartoons. In this list we will see all three parts.
Finding Dory (2016)
IMDb: 7.2
On IMDb, the rating for the sequel dropped by as much as a whole point compared to the first part of Finding Nemo.
Brave (2012)
IMDb: 7.1
The Pixar studio, which has become a subsidiary of Walt Disney Studios since 2006, only released its most “Disney” cartoon in 2012. And the main character, Merida, accordingly, became the first Disney princess created by Pixar.
I'm Blushing (2022)
IMDb: 7.0
Pixar indulged in experiments, which not everyone liked. By the way, “Soul,” released in 2020, is the studio’s latest cartoon to date, which received the usual universal approval of the audience.
Cars 3 (2017)
IMDb: 6.7
This is still not the last "Cars" on the list.
The Good Dinosaur (2015)
IMDb: 6.7
Another seemingly not quite Pixar cartoon from Pixar, which quickly turned out to be forgotten, completely covered by the success of Inside Out, released the same year.
Cars 2 (2011)
IMDb: 6.2
For more than 10 years, this particular cartoon was considered the worst of all the full-length films released by the studio. Probably, the failure of the entire Cars trilogy is Pixar's price for the anomalous triumph of all four parts of Toy Story.
Buzz Lightyear (2022)
IMDb: 6.1
Here comes the surprise Toy Story spin-off, which is essentially a film adaptation of the toy's marketing legend Buzz Lightyear. This clever concept, however, turned into the worst-performing movie in Pixar's history.
Bonus: Elementary (2023)
IMDb: 7.0
We see that the studio's newest cartoon has divided Western and other viewers. Did you manage to watch it, what did you think of it?
