Horror films are rarely nominated for an Oscar, since this genre is not always recognized by film critics (to be honest, sometimes it is not recognized by the audience themselves).

Most often, in horror and mystical films, the plot is “lame” or there is an abundance of ridiculous special effects that completely discourage the desire to continue watching the film further. Therefore, many directors prefer to avoid horror, even if the plot at first glance seems quite attractive.

However, even working in a similar genre, it is quite possible to make a decent film. Below you can see a list of the lucky films that still received recognition from the Academy and were awarded Oscars in various categories. You've probably already seen most of these films. However, it is quite possible that you will still grab for yourself some conditional novelty that you have not yet had time to study.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931)
