Characters from famous films and cartoons, whose storyline was clearly not completed.

Surely all of you have come across films with open endings. When you closely followed the story being told for an hour and a half to two hours, worried about the heroes, hated the villains and waited to see how it would all end. And then the film suddenly ended without giving a clear answer to all the questions that worried you during the viewing. It's a shame!

There is another type of bullying of spectators with similar properties. This is when you are not shown what fate ultimately awaits some important characters. Did he die or not? Did he receive the deserved punishment or not? Did you find happiness or not? We need more details! But the filmmakers do not give them, believing that the fate of some characters is not so important for the plot.

As a result, many viewers, after watching a film, feel an uncomfortable aftertaste - as if they were not given something, and then they write about it in their reviews and reduce the ratings of the films.

Lee Montgomery from Death Proof (2007)

At the end of the film, the heroine is left as collateral for the taken 1970 Dodge Challenger, in which her friends leave to deal with the main villain of the film. After this, the viewer will never see Lee again.

A likely hint about her fate is the fact that the owner of the car with whom she was left alone is the same truck driver-rapist Jasper who appears in Kill Bill. Film 1". At least they're both played by the same actor, and we know that all Quentin Tarantino's films are interconnected.

Elvira Hancock from Scarface (1983)

The wife of the main character Tony Montana, Elvi, plays an important role in the film, but towards the end of the story she leaves Montana after a fight in a restaurant and simply disappears. Her exact whereabouts by the end of the film are unknown - she could fall back into drug addiction and die from an overdose, or she could start a new and happy life. The viewer never found out.

Caesar Flickerman from The Hunger Games franchise (2012-2015)

The permanent host of the Hunger Games, conducting interviews with participants, and during the rebel uprising in the final part of the franchise, releasing propaganda videos on the side of the Capitol. But after President Snow surrendered and the Capitol was taken, Flickerman was never seen again.

What fate awaited him? Did he escape from the Capitol, was killed during the assault, or was he later convicted and executed? The film doesn't give the answer.

Joker from the movie "The Dark Knight" (2008)

It would be more correct to point out that the character's fate is unknown in the context of the film "Batman Rises". At the end of The Dark Knight, the villain is captured by Gotham special forces, after which he was probably sent to Arkham Asylum, where all the especially dangerous and crazy residents of the city are kept.

But in the third part of Christopher Nolan's Batman films, the entire city is captured by Bane, who frees the Arkham prisoners. It's obvious why the Joker wasn't among them - Heath Ledger died in 2008, and Christopher Nolan decided not to mention the Joker at all in the threequel out of respect for the actor.

Viewers can only guess and fantasize what happened to the main comic book villain of all time in the universe of this trilogy.

Peggy Brandt from the movie "The Mask" (1994)

The journalist, who during the course of the film betrays the main character Stanley Ipkis, simply disappears after the scene where her vile act is shown. She gives the magical mask to the main villain of the film and disappears, which seems very strange, considering how important a role she played in the film before this. In relation to her, the Hollywood law “the villain must be punished” does not work, since the viewer will not see her again until the credits roll.

However, on the Internet you can find a deleted scene from the film that explains this disappearance. It turns out that the villain Dorian simply kills Peggy, and does it at the same factory where she gives him the mask. And the way she was killed is so creepy that it becomes obvious why this episode was cut.

English Sergeant from the film "Kingdom of Heaven" (2005)

A prominent and charismatic character played by actor Kevin McKidd disappears from the film's plot when the main character, Balian, boards a ship to Jerusalem. This might not be such a big deal if he were a minor supporting character, but the sergeant was introduced to audiences as Balian's loyal friend, so his absence doesn't make sense.

Some fans suggest that he died in a shipwreck, but there is no evidence for this version, and his further fate remains unknown.

Paul Holt from the movie Friday the 13th. Part 2" (1981)

At the end of the film, Paul and his girlfriend Ginny believe that they have finally killed the maniac Jason, but he suddenly attacks the girl, breaking through the window. Ginny then wakes up surrounded by doctors who carry her into an ambulance. But where is Paul? The film simply ends there, without showing Jason or his body, or Paul or his body. The unspoken fate of the hero + an open ending, a real combo!

Taneleir Tivan (The Collector) from the Marvel Cinematic Universe films

The character, who first appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), was last seen in Avengers: Infinity War (2018), where he was tortured by Thanos while searching for the Reality Stone. The villain does not have time to kill him due to the intervention of the heroes, but after this the Collector never appears on screen again. What happened to him after the Avengers' attempt to correct the past in the film "Avengers: Endgame" is also unknown.

Knowles from The Thing (1982)

The last time viewers see this character, he decides to run away after polar station captain Garry is killed by biologist Blair, infected by an alien. Knowles no longer appears on camera, but no hint of his death is shown.

However, sketches of Knowles being infected by the alien can be found online, which never made it into the film due to the film's budget restrictions. That is, the death of this character was planned by the creators, but in the end his fate remained unknown.

Mr. Mittens (or rather his soul) from the cartoon “Soul” (2020)

The cheeky therapy cat, who was possessed by the soul of the main character, delighted the audience with his presence in the middle of the film. But what happened to the cat's soul after Joe Gardner took its place? We were shown that the cat's soul went to the other world, but did it return back to its body?

The last time we see Mr. Mittens alive, the cat is being taken away by his unnamed owner and will likely be returned to the hospital. But it remains unclear what happened to the cat’s soul, since according to the laws of the cartoon, it could not simply return to the body after entering the next world.

As a result, the creators had to separately explain this paradox on social networks. One of the screenwriters wrote that Mittens' soul remained in his body, since cats, as you know, have 9 lives.

The scene of the reunion of the cat's soul with his body was planned, but never made it into the final version of the cartoon, and thus the creators left without continuation a rather gloomy moment with the cat's soul on the conveyor belt of the afterlife.
