The film, which tells the story of the struggle of Sergeant Dragon and his friends against enraged pirates, was released in 1983.

Fact one

“Project A” was the first film in which Jackie Chan decided to move away from the already familiar kung fu battles, placing the main emphasis on a more believable street style of fights.

Fact two

While working on a memorable scene of falling from a tower, Jackie Chan decided to neglect the services of stunt doubles and volunteered to perform the difficult stunt himself. Chan's love for stuntmanship led him to a spinal injury, but, fortunately, the injury was not critical, and the actor was soon able to return to duty.

Fact three

But the actors’ suffering did not end with Chan’s injury. D. Wei, who played the role of the leader of the pirates, received a strong blow to the ridge with a stick from S. Hong, who played the role of Cheok, during the filming of the final battle. Despite the injury, the actor managed to recover from the blow and continue participating in the filming.

Fact four

Interestingly, Project A was Chan's first film in which he decided to show clips of screwed up takes and funny acting slips during the end credits.

Fact five

Initially, the film was supposed to be called “Pirate Patrol,” but later the creators abandoned this idea, opting for “Project A.”

Fact six

In preparation for filming “The Team,” the main cast of the film trained in the art of proper and graceful soldier marching.

Fact seven

It is interesting that “Project A” literally introduced the unknown D. Trejo into the world of big cinema. In the early 80s, Trejo was offered an interesting part-time job: to voice one of the characters in “The Project” for Western film distribution. While working at a recording studio, Trejo made several film acquaintances, who after a few years were able to provide him with his first film roles.

Fact eight

Filming took the creators about two years.

Fact nine

“Project A” served as a powerful impetus for the development of the film career of the young Jackie Chan. In addition to acting duties, Jackie was responsible for directing, writing and producing the film. After the release of “The Project,” a wave of popularity of action comedies broke out on the Asian film market, and Jackie Chan moved from the category of ordinary actors to a serious people’s artist with good directorial abilities. Having received recognition at home, Chan set his sights on conquering the Western market.

Fact ten

On the set of the landmark film, another event occurred that greatly influenced the subsequent development of Jackie Chan’s film career: it was on the set of “Project A” that Chan’s iconic stunt team was formed. Subsequently, members of the troupe helped Jackie in the creation of many films (we are talking about stuntman craft, staging stunts and fight scenes).
