You also need to rest properly, which many of us do not know. Luckily, nature can teach you anything. Relax, immerse yourself in the sun-warmed mud and don’t stop the birds from pecking at the parasites. I will share with you the wisdom of Asian water buffalos.





First, a little clarification. The species of Asiatic buffalo (aka water buffalo, aka arnie) should not be confused with the genus of the same name. Our heroes live in India, Nepal, Bhutan, as well as in Australia and several large islands. The genus includes 5 species of animals and expands its range throughout Southeast Asia.



Despite their rather lazy lifestyle, water buffalos look impressive - 3 meters from muzzle to tail, about a ton of weight, curved horns up to 2 meters long. Not every tiger can handle this. Plus 100 to the armor is added by the company - wild cows love to graze with rhinoceroses. This way, predators will have no chance at all.





The first point of a good holiday follows from this - protect yourself from unexpected events. However, there is an exception to this rule. Just as we cannot put off force majeure, so buffaloes cannot put off lyuli from crocodiles, Komodo dragons and seasoned tigers.



But there are no exceptions to the second rule. The basis of a good holiday is a comfortable environment and delicious food. The buffalo's choice is abundant mud baths and a lot of aquatic vegetation in the diet. Mud is a great way to cool down on hot days. Believe me, there are many of them in the Asian jungle. And proper nutrition helps keep you fit during those happy hours of idleness.



Well, don’t forget about the additional attributes of doing nothing well. Play soothing music, read a good book, invite white cranes to eat the parasites off your back. The latter, by the way, goes well with mud baths. Choking insects are saved by crawling onto their open backs. So the reptiles become easy prey for the birds.



Last but not least on our list is good company. Doing nothing alone is great, but doing nothing is more fun with friends. In addition to the aforementioned rhinoceroses, water buffalos are not averse to making friends with their own kind. There is no place for ageism and sexism in herds of cows - both old and young hang out in them, regardless of gender. The group is led by an experienced male.



In old age, alpha males become too aggressive, which is why they are expelled from the herd.

Unfortunately, there are fewer and fewer true holiday gurus every year. The main reasons for the decline in numbers are the plowing of places where buffaloes rest and, worst of all, their crossing with workaholics. Local peasants prefer to keep livestock on free grazing, where they often intersect with wild cows. Female Asian buffaloes are easily seduced by stories about career growth, high salaries and marry hard workers.



After 330 days, regardless of the folder, a calf weighing 30-40 kilograms is born. If the baby turns out to be a half-breed, as a rule, he ends up in a wild herd - he is accepted there as one of his own. Already 2 years after birth, the little thing will be interested in the opposite sex and promote thoughts about work among them.



And this saddens me immensely. The wonderful culture of slackers is disappearing under the onslaught of a hard-working civilization.
