Coffee, alcohol and soda you can try in Japan
In the Land of the Rising Sun, any tourist can find something interesting from figurines, entertainment, clothing or food. But often the average person completely forgets about local drinks, preferring something standard, both soda and juice, and alcohol.
We talk about interesting finds in the vast expanses of Japan to get an idea of what delicious things you can try there.
Yakult
Sweetened probiotic fermented milk drink from Yakult Honsha.
The drink is popular in Japan and comes in many flavors, but the most popular among locals is caramel.
Qoo
The drink contains real juice from the Coca-Cola company. Available not only in Japan, but also in most of Asia.
Qoo comes in a variety of flavors, including grape and orange, and is also available in various drinking fountains, such as McDonald's.
Let's move on to more specific products, because it's not just juices and probiotics you should drink.
Yogurito
Alcoholic liqueur with yogurt flavor. Sold only in Japan. Some people use it in its pure form.
Although the liqueur itself is very thick, so it should be used as a base for cocktails.
In addition to local stores, Yogurito can also be found in bars.
Pepsi Salty Watermelon
Every season, Pepsi comes up with different variations of soda for the Japanese market. In 2012 they came up with salted watermelon flavored Pepsi... wait WHAT? But yes, it is. As it turns out, many residents of the Land of the Rising Sun sprinkle salt on watermelon to make it sweeter (how does that work?!).
Seasonal drinks convey taste very well and, at least for this reason, they are worth trying. As eyewitnesses note, Pepsi Ice Cucumber really did taste very much like a fresh cucumber.
Pokemon Cafe in Tokyo
The first official coffee in Japan dedicated solely to the theme of pocket monsters.
There are a lot of drinks here and all are interesting. For example, on local coffee, one of the monsters is drawn on the foam at the request of the client.
The menu also includes various cocktails or teas. For example, this is what milk tea “Say Hello to Evie” looks like:
The food at this cafe is also fun, such as a burger in the shape of the grass Pokemon Bulbasaur.
There are a lot of drinks in Japan and this is only a small part, but it’s definitely worth trying them just for fun.
