People are strange creatures. For centuries we have been running from predatory cats so that they would not kill us. And now we drag them into the house ourselves! People even managed to place a lynx in their apartment. At least a small copy of it. Such as pixie bob.





Looking at this cat, one might sinfully think about its forest origin. But don't be fooled by the wild look. Pixiebob is a completely domestic cat with zero lynx concentration in his blood. The breed should be grateful to scrupulous breeders for the tufted ears, short tail and spotted coat. Careful selection led to the fact that a small lynx was created from a mixture of a domestic cat and a farm cat.



This breed is quite young, it is not even 30 years old. But she won the hearts of cat lovers (and not only!) completely and irrevocably. The Lynx, in addition to its memorable appearance, can boast of qualities traditionally valued in dogs. Pixiebob is loyal to his owner, gets along well with children, is very smart, therefore he is very trainable and masters simple commands.





So if you suddenly see a mini-lynx on a leash in the city, you already know who it is. Walking for such a cat is not a whim, but a true necessity: it is a very active companion. Like a number of dog breeds, he needs space to live; this 7-kilogram wool rocket will destroy a very small city apartment.



Pixiebobs have a common mutation of polydactylism - an extra toe on their paws. Such animals are not welcome for breeding, as this may affect the future health of the breed.

Although a chance meeting in the city is still akin to a miracle. Pixie bobs are not very popular with the general public yet. Prices for the most modest kitten, which will not shine at exhibitions or even make any significant contribution to the gene pool of the breed, are steep, starting at $500. A show-class pet costs six times more.



What does this story teach us? The experiment is doomed to success only in one case: you need to get a new breed of cat or upgrade an old one.
