Just imagine if the buildings we know started to look like this!
We are showing you several rejected concepts of famous architectural structures, which are very, and in some cases completely radically different from how they look now. Some of these works participated in construction competitions, but ultimately gave way to other options, and some represent an attempt to modernize something that already exists. Moreover, there are some really wild sketches here.

4. One of the original designs for the Sydney Harbor Bridge
It shows that city planners could have built a much more impressive three-sided structure. The bridge itself was opened in 1932.
5. Golden Gate Bridge with desalination plant and power plant for clean drinking water and energy

9. Several concepts for the Space Needle in Seattle, Washington. Late 1950s, early 60s
The tower was built in 1961.
10. One of the options for the Peace Palace project in The Hague, the Netherlands

12. Metropolitan Life North Tower in New York
The planned height of the skyscraper is 396 meters. Construction began in 1929, but the tower was never completed due to the Great Depression. The MetLife Tower skyscraper standing nearby emphasizes how different the current appearance of the Metropolitan Life North Tower is from the planned one.
