A book is a storehouse of world knowledge, sometimes stored in a non-standard form. If you think that a book is something boring, then this selection is especially for you.

“My dad is in the jungle”

In 2015, a publishing house in Argentina decided to publish an eco-friendly book. The gist of it is that a succession of real trees are woven throughout the pages, and the text is written in environmentally friendly ink. After reading it, you can plant it, and a full-fledged tree will grow from it. This clearly shows children, and adults too, the process of book production. The idea became successful and was liked by children and parents.

"Drinking Book"

A water filter book was invented by an American woman. The pages are created with elements of silver particles and absorbent. Each page can not only purify up to one hundred liters of water, but also trap bacteria.

At the same time, the work itself talks about the harmfulness of raw water and the bacteria that it contains.

"Tunnel Book"

A 3D book by Philadelphia artist Maria Pisano. The book tells and, most importantly, shows the history of the creation of the tunnel from New York to New Jersey. 6 million tiles are drawn on the outside, but inside the underground world is depicted, connecting the destinies of drivers of the past and present.

An unfolded book takes up more than two meters.

“The Seasoning Book”

Cooking will become doubly interesting if you use a book as a seasoning. Each page is a specific seasoning. To add seasoning to a dish, you just need to tear off a piece, or wrap the hot dish in a page. The pages dissolve due to moisture and leave behind only the spices.

By the way, the Maggi company produces similar leaflets, apparently having picked up the idea from the creator.

“The Baking Cookbook”

The practical benefit of creativity is zero. The creators decided to create a book whose recipes are not visible at first. For them to appear, the work must be baked in the oven. Heat-resistant material will not allow the book to deteriorate.

"The Girl Who Was Plugged In"

A book of the future from science fiction writer James Tripri Jr. The book is a reader with sensors that connects to a special vest. At the right moments, the sensors begin to work, creating vibrations, cold, heat, and other sensations for the 5-D effect.

Thus, the reader feels everything that happens to the heroine and perceives the book a little differently.

“Paper Wikipedia”

The 5,000-page Talmud was included in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest book in the world. Surprisingly, her page actually contains all the Wikipedia articles.

However, even if we consider the book as an encyclopedia, it is completely useless.

"Arrival"

In 2006, Shaun Tan was able to create a graphic novel masterpiece. An emotional and multifaceted novel was written without a single word, but the novel without symbols in 120 pages fully tells about the tragic fate of migrants emigrating to foreign countries. Emotions are conveyed through jewelry illustrations, more like photographs.

The book was awarded the main award at the Angoulême comics festival.

"Tree of codes"

An experimental novel by writer Jonathan Safran Foer that centers on the last day in the life of a Jewish artist and writer. The book is written in hypertext and contains a huge number of cut out pages through which the next ones appear. Thus, the reader must isolate the main meaning from a huge number of words.

Because of this approach, the story has several options for development and ending, while none of them was called one hundred percent correct.

"Moving silhouettes"

The Japanese book, one might even say, a work of art, is somewhat reminiscent of Sean Tan's novel - it also has practically no words, but there are cut out figures that take different shapes depending on the position and light. Intertwined with the images, they tell a living story, somewhat reminiscent of the visualization of the tale of the Deathly Hallows in the film Harry Potter.
