The story of how journalists bought wine infused with shit (15 photos)
An extremely interesting story about a trip of correspondents from Japan to buy a rare drink.
In 2012, correspondents of the Japanese publication RocketNews24 decided to buy the rather famous Korean wine ttongsul, which is infused with feces.
The recipe for the drink is truly impressive: traditional alcohol, soju, along with distilled alcohol, is poured into a pit with a mixture of human, chicken and dog feces.
This mash “languishes” for several months, and after fermentation it is consumed.
Naturally, journalists became interested in such an amazing potion and went to South Korea to buy a couple of bottles for themselves.
But it turned out that not everything was so simple; in order to buy the drink, the correspondents had to use their connections and through them contact the right person who sells this strange alcohol.
It is unknown whether ttongsul is banned, but finding it is indeed problematic.
At the agreed time, a man came with bottles and handed over the potion. Then an interesting conversation began, from which it became clear that it is impossible to prepare tongsul at home.
As the man admitted, he bakes his own child’s feces at a temperature of 250 degrees for 30 minutes, and if done incorrectly, it can stink the whole house.
The seller also noted that in addition to feces, the bottles were infused with cat bones.
As the journalists said at the end, the alcohol did not smell of feces, the wine had no odor, but whether they drank Korean wine was not specified.
