2007 is not a year or a period of life, it is a state of mind. In 2007, young parents, emo and goths remained. No one will ever go back to 2007, but we can recreate the atmosphere of that time. And in this difficult matter there is no better assistant than the black cockatoo.





Cockatoo does not have a stable income, he can hardly speak, but he was able to put together a set of a true goth! Perhaps somewhere between Indonesia, New Guinea and the north of Australia there was a maniac ready to sell paraphernalia for local parrots. Our hero clearly shows that Gothism is expressed in three points.



The first and main point is a gloomy color. The blue-black tailcoat does not look like the overdressed clothes of the local clown birds. A one-kilogram body one meter long cannot be ignored. Even red cheeks look appropriate; they emphasize the overall severity of the attire.





Point two - scary accessories. A huge mohawk recalls the hard punk youth, a long gray manicure evokes associations with Freddy Krueger. And it doesn’t matter that the papug uses its claws only for climbing trees, the image of a clawed maniac who comes in dreams has already formed in my head.



The exorbitant size of the beak adds to the creepiness. Black, bent into three corners, it seems to be created for tearing souls out of mortal bodies. The beak is indeed strong, but it is used to tear the bark of eucalyptus trees and only hurts berries, flowers and nuts.



Well, what is a goth without a specific character. As befits the average gloomy informal, the bird is thoughtful, intelligent, has a bad character and is taciturn. He is also territorial and difficult to communicate with - the obstinate animal will remember everything bad and will definitely take revenge. And then again. Once again.

But if you establish contact with the bird, it will remind you of an excellent third-year student: it understands almost everything, but you can get more than a couple of memorized words out of it. All day long the parrot prefers to play tricks alone or in a small company of the same informal creatures.



But in the life of every informal person (human, bird, it doesn’t matter) there comes a moment when he has a soul mate. To ensure that this moment comes early, the male finds a free hollow and widens it well. And then he organizes a punk rock concert right in the courtyard of his newly purchased house. Having found a stronger stick, the papug begins to pound the wood with it!



Moreover, simply beating with a stick is not enough for him; the bird will spend a lot of time selecting a stick with the appropriate sound, and will drum in the same rhythm. If some girl appreciates the track, she will move into the hollow for permanent residence; cockatoos form pairs for life. Well, the drumstick is broken into pieces and placed at the base of the nest. Romance...



The Gothic lady incubates a single egg for about a month. The hatched chick is as beautiful as a bulldozer, but already looks like its parents. The baby will acquire feathers for flight by 3 months, sit on mom and dad’s neck for another 2 months and that’s it - the new informal is ready!



The young cockatoo will live happily until he is 8, the ideal age to start his own family. If a young goth is lucky, he will promote his subculture for 50-60 years. At least that's how many black cockatoos live in zoos.



Individuals born in captivity are noticeably kinder than their wild relatives.

My rating for the cockatoo is 9 drum rolls out of 10. He is noticeable, original, self-sufficient, a wonderful family man, a forest genius and an inimitable musician. If I communicated with the public, I would get a top ten, but is that really the main thing when life is high?
