The image shows a group of three galaxies collectively known as NGC 7764A. They were photographed by the Hubble Space Telescope using two wide-angle cameras.
It took 17 hours to photograph this mysterious corner of our galaxy. The faint Squid Nebula lies in the wings of the Bat Nebula, about 2,300 light-years away. The squid, the size of six full moons in the night sky, is located in the constellation Cepheus.
