How can you replace a water filter: another property of kombucha (5 photos)
The biological organism purifies water better than a special device from the factory.
The various beneficial properties of kombucha have long been known, and it makes an interesting drink.
It is also used in cooking: kombucha is added to various dishes, and vinegar is also made from it.
The mushroom is even used in cosmetology, because it moisturizes and nourishes the skin, and also removes toxins and impurities. As a bonus, kombucha will help you get rid of wrinkles. This mushroom would clearly have a place somewhere in the office of Potions Professor Severus Snape.
However, as it turned out, all of the above is not all advantages. In January 2022, scientists from the University of Technology, located in Montana, were able to create a water filter based on the fungus. The cleaning design based on kombucha is more effective than modern replaceable analogues sold in stores.
And it lasts longer than conventional models, and after its service life is used up, it quickly decomposes.
Moreover, the composition of the filter is quite simple: Acetobacter bacteria, water, white vinegar, sugar and black tea, applied to special plates connected into a membrane.
In general, it is a logical decision, given how urgent the fight against plastic waste is at the moment, for which centers for separate waste collection and recycling are being created. It’s a pity that everyday use of such filters is still a long way off.
