A charity in Bali rescued and treated a dog with a hole in its head (10 photos)
Now Michi looks like a cute teddy bear, but when the charity Mission Paws'ible picked her up from the streets of Bali, the poor thing was dirty, sick, and had a literal hole in her head. 
When volunteers found Michie, they immediately knew she needed to be taken to the vet immediately, but the frightened dog got stuck in the drain and volunteers had to wait three hours for rescuers to arrive. When Michi was finally taken to the vet, it turned out that the hole in her head was full of maggots. Perhaps the wound was caused by a person or another dog. Veterinarians had to completely shave off her fur because it was covered in blood, dirt and infested with insects. 
Soon Michie was transferred to the home of one of the volunteers for foster care. Alas, after this she was diagnosed with parvovirus enteritis. This virus is highly contagious and spreads through direct or indirect contact with an infected dog. It is possible that Michie was infected with it before she came to the clinic and the vaccination detected it, or she became infected at the clinic. Fortunately, Michi's age and good immune system allowed her to successfully fight off the virus and she survived. And very soon she became the beautiful Maltese mix she always was. 
“The day Michi met her future mother, Saffron, was very touching,” said one of the organization’s members. “Her perfect match arrived and we all burst into tears!” Michi now lives in Bali with Saffron and her other rescue dog, Garscon, and the three of them make a very special little family. When Saffron drove 1.5 hours to meet Michi, their connection was instant. We sat in the clinic where Michie was still being treated for parvovirus, and their bond was strong from the start. We were all crying and I just knew this was the right home for Michie.” 
Now Michi is enjoying his new life and new company, all thanks to a group of dog lovers from different countries who have come together for a good cause.
