Probably everyone has encountered the feeling of wanting to eat something unusual. But it is unlikely that you will be able to find something exotic on store shelves or in the refrigerator, unless, of course, you are in tropical countries where there are plenty of amazing berries and fruits.

You haven’t seen most of them, much less tried them. But, if by some miracle you find yourself in these countries, look for these unusual, and most importantly, edible fruits.

For example, on the Malaysian island of Borneo you can find Bam-balan. Outwardly, it is nothing impressive, but the same cannot be said about the taste, which, oddly enough, resembles rich borscht with sour cream.

Kiwano is found in Africa, Australia, Israel and Costa Rica. It is quite difficult to say what taste this fruit has, because it resembles something between a banana, kiwi and cucumber.

Despite the fact that yangmei, which grows in China, has a sweet and tart taste, as well as a very attractive color, it is rarely eaten. For some reason, they prefer to grow it there exclusively as a garden decoration.

But in China, Japan and Korea they eat akebia, whose sweet and sour taste resembles raspberries. In addition, it emits a very pleasant aroma.

Another sweet and sour fruit is cupuaçu, which grows in Colombia, Brazil and Mexico. True, it tastes like a mixture of pear, pineapple and banana.

Canistel can be found in the territories of Panama, Jamaica and Cuba. If you close your eyes, you might think that you are eating potatoes with a sweetish aftertaste. A fairly versatile fruit, which locals add to both main dishes and desserts.

Jaboticaba, which grows in Argentina, Uruguay and the Philippines, is very closely related to the grape. However, only the pulp of the fruit is used, since the skin tastes too bitter.

In Australia, Malaysia and the Philippines you can find maranga, which has a truly exotic taste. After all, according to some, it resembles marshmallow, while gourmets detect in it notes of ice cream in a waffle cup.

Ackee, which can be found in Ecuador, Australia and Jamaica, is eaten exclusively after processing. In its raw form, this fruit is poisonous, but after cooking it will resemble a walnut.

Longan, found in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, has a refreshing grape flavor. However, you should not eat too much of it, as the fruit can cause a sharp rise in temperature.

While in Sri Lanka, you can try such a fruit as chompu. True, its taste is unlikely to pleasantly surprise you, since it simply resembles sweetened water.

Well, let's finish with naranjilla, originally from Peru, Chile and Venezuela. Despite the fact that this fruit is very similar in appearance to a tomato, it will give a mixture of strawberry and pineapple flavors.

Which of these fruits would you be happy to try?
