Today there are more than 200 officially recognized dog breeds. Quite a number, isn't it? And apparently, this is far from the end, because new breeds are being born. As they say, there is no limit to perfection. So, let's take a look at dog breeds that were developed relatively recently. Not everyone knows about the existence of such dogs.
American Akita
The Akita is a muscular dog with a thick coat, known for its courage and loyalty. The breed received official recognition in 1972.
Petersburg orchid
This long-haired, charming and very easygoing dog was bred in St. Petersburg in 1997. During selection, various types of toy terriers, Chihuahuas and representatives of other small breeds were used.
White Swiss Shepherd
The White Swiss Shepherd had a difficult path to recognition. The breed was first bred in Switzerland, then in Canada and the USA. However, no official organization or stud book wanted to register her. Everything changed in 1991. Then the white shepherds finally ended up in the Swiss stud book, and already in 2003 they received recognition from the international canine organization.
Dutch Kooikerhondje
The Kooikerhondje is an intelligent and very active dog used for hunting wild birds. The breed received official recognition in 1966.
Pomsky
The Pomsky is a designer breed that is a cross between a Pomeranian and a Siberian Husky. The first hybrid was released in 2013 in the USA. Today, the Pomsky is one of the most expensive breeds in the world. And this despite the fact that he has no status in international canine organizations. In 2019, the breed received official recognition in the Russian Federation, and in 2020 the first breed club was registered.
Maltipoo
Like many designer crosses, the Maltipoo originated in the United States. The first puppies appeared in the 1980s. Dog trainers wanted to create a small, non-shedding companion dog that would fit perfectly into any family's lifestyle, no matter how small their home and yard.
Cavapoo
The Cavapoo is another small designer crossbreed that is growing in popularity around the world. The breed was created by crossing a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Miniature Poodle in the 1990s.
American Hairless Terrier
The dog, which looks like a cute baby rat, was officially recognized in 2016. The American Hairless Terrier was separated from the Rat Terrier. The breed has a friendly and easy-going disposition. And there are no allergies to them.
Shalaika
Shalaika is one of the youngest dog breeds. It appeared as a result of crossing the Nenets reindeer husky and the jackal. It was bred in 1983 and registered in 2018.
Puggle
The Puggle is an unusual cross between a Beagle and a Pug. The breed first appeared in the 80s of the last century. However, active breeding and distribution occurred in the early 2000s. Puggles are not officially recognized by many kennel clubs. However, some still awarded the breed legal registration. Among them are the Mixed Breed Dog Club of America, the Designer Breed Registry, the Designer Dog Breeders Club, and the International Designer Dog Registry.
Labradoodle
A purebred dog created by crossing a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle. People first started talking about these dogs back in 1955. However, practically no one knew anything about them until the early 1980s.
