Small cat breeds have a special charm. It seems that they are capable of causing tenderness even in a person with the hardest heart.
Their unusual appearance has made them popular in many countries around the world. Most modern breeds known today are, as a rule, the result of the work of nurseries, cynological organizations and clubs involved in breeding animals. In more rare cases, the appearance of atypical appearance in cats is associated with the manifestation of natural mutations. The most famous miniature cat breeds are described below.
Napoleon (2.3-4 kilograms)
The date of birth of the rare and expensive breed is considered to be June 12, 1995. On this day, Joe Smith, a basset hound breeder, was struck by the idea of creating a new breed of cat. After a while, the man realized his idea by crossing munchkins and Persians.
Bambino (2.2-4 kilograms)
A young breed that was born in 2006 as a result of crossing short-legged munchkins and hairless Canadian Sphynxes. Bambino cats are distinguished by their sociability and do not tolerate loneliness very well.
The breed is prone to gaining excess weight, so the pet should not be overfed
An overfed bambino immediately drops out of the race for which the smallest cat breeds compete.
Lambkin (1.8-4 kilograms)
Lambkin cats look like curly sheep. It was possible to breed unusual pets by crossing a Selkirk Rex and a Munchkin. The new breed was developed by American breeder Terry Harris. The first kittens were born between 1987 and 1991. The exact year is unknown.
Munchkin (1.8-3.6 kilograms)
The average length of the munchkin's body and legs is 2-3 times shorter than that of ordinary cats. This phenomenon was associated with a spontaneous dominant mutation. Breeders used it to create a new breed of cats. It was officially registered in 1995.
Skookum (1.8-3.6 kilograms)
The Skookum breed was created in 1996 by crossing Munchkin and La Perm cats. Its creator is the American Roy Galusha. For more than ten years, the breeder tried to develop a breed that would be small in size and have fluffy, curly hair.
Singapura or Singapura cat (2.5-3 kilograms)
The Singapura is considered a native breed. There are suggestions that it formed naturally in its homeland in Singapore. Researchers think that the ancestors of the graceful beauty were stray cats who lived right on the streets of the city. In the 70s, several Singaporean cats were exported to America, where the formation of a new breed began.

Dwelf (1.8-3 kilograms)
The Dwelf is a hairless, miniature cat that was created by crossing the Munchkin, the Canadian Sphynx and the American Curl. They are distinguished by a strong attachment to the owner.
Minskin (1.8-3 kilograms)
A dwarf cat that was bred by crossing hairless Sphynx cats. The birthplace of the breed is the USA.
Kinkaloo (1.3-3 kilograms)
The Kinkalow is a cat breed resulting from crossing Munchkins and American Curls. The breed was registered in 1997. At first, cats were bred only in America.
Toy bob (900-2.1 kilograms)
The history of the appearance of cats of this breed is extremely surprising. In 1983, in Rostov-on-Don, Elena Krasnichenko, a breeder of Thai bobtails, picked up a Thai cat on the street that was extremely similar to a Siamese. The new pet was named Mishka. Two years later, a Thai cat, Sima, appeared in Elena’s house, with an atypical donut tail. Some time later, one strange kitten appeared in the litter of this couple, which was incredibly small in size and had a super short tail. Later he became the founder of a new breed. In 1994, the skif-tay-don standard was approved at a seminar of WCF felinologists from the CIS. Today the breed is considered experimental.
