The successful combination of their shape and size can make even the most notorious snob admire them. The record-breaking animals with the largest eyes on Earth look especially unusual.

A person loves animals unconditionally, but we will not hide the fact that their appearance plays an important role in sympathy for our smaller brothers. Their graceful movements, beautiful colors or soft fur are sometimes simply mesmerizing. But perhaps the most remarkable thing in the appearance of any living creature is the eyes.

Tarsier

The most interesting feature of the tarsier is its huge eyes, disproportionately large in relation to the body. If these proportions are applied to a person, then his eyes will be the size of a large orange.

Mantis crab

The huge eyes of mantis crabs have 16 photoreceptors (in humans, for example, there are only 2). In addition, they are able to distinguish between infrared and ultraviolet colors.

Octopus and squid

Many species of octopuses and squids boast developed organs of vision that allow them to easily navigate in the dark. The diameter of the giant squid's eyes reaches thirty centimeters. In size they can be compared to a large dinner plate.

Chameleon

Chameleons' eyes have an amazing feature. They are capable of simultaneously tracking two targets. One for each eye.

Four-eyed fish

An amazing fish that lives mainly on the surface of the water. The four-eyed bird has large, well-developed eyes, which are separated by a special horizontal membrane. Thanks to this feature, the fish is able to look both above and below water at the same time.

Ogre spider or deinopid

Large eyes help spiders hunt successfully after dusk.

Leaf-tailed gecko

The leaf-tailed gecko's large eyes see 350 times better than humans. They allow the creature to easily navigate in the dark and distinguish even the smallest prey.

Slender loris

Lori got its name due to the presence of huge, expressive eyes. So, from French “lorie” means “clown”.

Scops Owl

Many species of owls boast large eyes. They make the birds' appearance expressive and also help them hunt at night.

Mouse lemur

The mouse lemur has large eyes and weighs no more than thirty grams.

Tree frog or tree frog

Tree frogs spend most of their lives in trees. The special structure of their eyes allows them to see ill-wishers even during sleep.

Swordfish or swordfish

Swordfish can artificially increase the temperature of the brain and eyes by an average of 10-15 degrees. Heating allows you to increase the speed of reaction to moving objects and make hunting more productive. This phenomenon is called endothermy.
