Due to the wide diversity of the book market, some publishers choose very unusual cover designs for their titles. After all, how else to attract the attention of the audience? Some of them are so eccentric that readers have only one question: “What is going on here?”
A person likes everything beautiful and original. Perhaps this is why we always pay attention to the cover of a literary work before we start reading it. Some people can spend hours walking around a bookstore and, with the scrupulousness of a great appraiser, choose a book for themselves (of course, it also comes down to the plot, but not in the first place).
Dakota Kraut, "Rexus Side Quest"
JK Rowling, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Finnish edition)
In her books, Rowling more than once obsessively focused readers' attention on the fact that Umbridge looks like a toad! The authors of this cover clearly heard her and decided to depict the professor in a similar way. The noses of the drawn characters also deserve special attention. Perhaps the artists were inspired when creating them by the tale of Pinocchio.
Aldous Huxley, Brave New World
Agatha Christie, The Early Cases of Poirot
Brian Kane, Initiation into Witchcraft
Sometimes writers have to design their own covers, especially for those who have just started their creative journey.
M. J. Edwards, "Covid Claus is Coming to Town"
First-time author MJ Edwards has written a series of books about how Dr Alexa Ashingtonford fell in love with the virus while developing a vaccine for it. And then suddenly Covid-19 turned into a person, and away we went. Despite the low ratings of her works, the writer does not give up and continues to create.
Frank Herbert, Dune
Just look at the face of this desert worm.
Lisa Tuttle, "Skin of the Soul"
Warren Smith, The Secret Origin of Bigfoot
Stephenie Meyer, "Twilight"
The picture makes your eyes a little dazzled, and the heroine depicted on the cover clearly has some problems with her body proportions.
Harland Sanders, Tender Wings of Desire
Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray
Not a trace remained of the beautiful face of Dorian Gray. Looking at this cover, you might think that this is not a classic novel, but a horror or mystical work.
Caroline Cherry, "The Adventure of Chanur"
